Norwich City: Ali Ahmed has delivered an exciting update regarding the club’s future.

Norwich City’s first transfer window under Philippe Clement was a resounding success, with three permanent signings who could thrive in their first full season at Carrow Road in 2026/27.

Mohamed Toure lit up the Canaries’ attack when he was fit, and Paris Maghoma was a good lynchpin in Clement’s midfield, but Canadian winger Ali Ahmed may be the one addition with the most potential to be a quality performer for a promotion-chasing club right away.

The 25-year-old was one of the first newcomers midway through the season, joining from MLS club Vancouver Whitecaps, where he had spent his whole professional career after graduating from their youth.

Ahmed scored four goals and assisted three others in his 16 second-tier starts on the left wing, and he was a driving force in Norwich’s strong 2026 at Carrow Road, which saw the club finish second in the division behind Southampton.

The Canadian international is presently representing his country at a home World Cup, as he and fellow EFL star Cyle Larin helped drive a comeback in their opening group game against Bosnia and Herzegovina, securing their first ever point at football’s biggest tournament.

Ali Ahmed believes that the best is yet to come for his career.

Ahmed is a late bloomer in the pro game. He signed his first permanent contract with Vancouver in November 2022, only a month after turning 22.

As a result, he has had a lot of catching up to do compared to some of his classmates, who have been pros since they were teenagers, but he appears to be doing well so far, based on his half-campaign in the Championship.

The 25-year-old is optimistic about his future potential.According to the Pink Un, although being 25, he has only had three and a half years of professional experience.I believe that with each passing year, I am progressing, growing, and reaching new milestones. “I believe there is yet more to come.I haven’t actually reached my pinnacle or accomplished anything, you know? There’s plenty of room to expand.”

Ahmed will be looking for a successful World Cup campaign for his country this summer. Canada had already improved on their last two campaigns in Mexico in 1986 and Qatar in 2022, where they were knocked out of the group stage with nil points.

They earned their first point against Bosnia and Herzegovina on Friday and will aim to follow it up with a win over Qatar this evening, which would almost surely ensure that Jesse Marsch’s team advances to the knockout stage for the first time in their history.

Norwich City can be enthusiastic over Ali Ahmed’s entrance.

Ahmed’s seven goals in just 19 league games offered Norwich fans something to look forward to next season, as the Canadian winger appeared ready to improve on that in his first full year with the Canaries.

Seeing the 25-year-old’s belief, however, will only heighten expectations for what he can do at Carrow Road next year.

Norwich are viewed as a dark horse for promotion in 2026/27, following their stunning turnaround under Philippe Clement after a disastrous start under Liam Manning this season, which saw them finish second-bottom in November.

With a complete pre-season behind the Belgian manager and a transfer window that should be similar to that of January, the Canaries are a frightening prospect for next season, especially if Ahmed and Toure have successful World Cup campaigns.

Carrow Road is eagerly anticipating the start of the new term. Ahmed’s best is yet to come, and the same can be said for Philippe Clement’s entire side.
