The entire degree of Jean-Philippe Mateta’s injuries has now been made public by Crystal Palace following the striker’s horrific tackle during Saturday afternoon’s 3-1 FA Cup fifth-round victory against Millwall. Liam Roberts, the opposing goalie, used his studs to catch the Frenchman on the side of the head just eight minutes into the game. View the incident below:
Oh my lord Mateta just got absolutely wiped out by Roberts! Easiest red card you’ve ever seen 😭😭

The dispute has already clouded what was supposed to be a day of maximum celebration in south London. Club chairman Steve Parish has denounced the offender, and the FA has now stated that they would not be looking into the cries of “let him die” that were aimed at the injured striker. However, Mateta’s status is a welcome piece of positive news.

He has been discharged from the hospital
When the full-time whistle blew on Saturday night, Mateta was in a stable condition and aware in the hospital, and Oliver Glasner gave the much-anticipated news. Since then, the center-forward, who has 12 Premier League goals this season, has been let go. Crystal Palace issued a statement confirming:
“We are happy to inform that JP Mateta was released from St George’s Hospital this evening after receiving specialised care and 25 stitches for a nasty cut on his left ear. JP is doing well, and all scans came back clear.

As they await more information, the France international will not play in the Eagles’ upcoming league game against Ipswich Town next weekend. “He will now rest and recuperate over the following days where his progress will be monitored by our club doctor,” they stated.
“Thank you to the medical staff at both Selhurst Park and the hospital for their help and professionalism, and for all the wishes of support that JP and the club have received today.”
