Sheffield Wednesday have a lot of work to do this summer as they prepare for life in League One under new ownership, but David Storch is not wasting time.
Sheffield Wednesday fans will be looking forward rather than back as the summer begins, coming off a dreadful season for the club. The first-team roster need a full revamp, and there is a lot of repair work to be done on the club’s infrastructure as a result of years of deplorable neglect by former owner Dejphon Chansiri.
Confirmation of the successful transfer of the club’s ownership into the hands of Arise Capital, led by American businessman David Storch, was issued at the beginning of May, and it’s evident that Storch is well aware of the amount of work that has to be done around Hillsborough.
But, so far, Storch has hit all the right chords with Wednesday fans, and his social media postings keep everyone up to date on the club’s latest developments.
Storch upgrade will delight Sheffield Wednesday fans after years of Chansiri neglect.

On Saturday evening, David Storch posted an update on Sheffield Wednesday’s latest developments on the social media platform X, thanking fans for “your outpouring of support / response” to the club’s recent announcement over season ticket prices for the 2025-26 season and new CEO David Bruce for his involvement.
He also confirmed that plans are in the works to redevelop the club’s training ground, “1) in preparation for the upcoming season; 2) with the future in mind,” and that, “Our mission is to provide our first team and others in our playing family with the best facilities for proper training and recovery.”
He also took a shot at the club’s former owner, Dejphon Chansiri, saying, “And even with restrictions placed on us for the next two seasons due to prior owners’ behavior, @michaelestorch, Tom, and I have unwavering confidence in David and his football brain trust to make all of us @swfc fans proud.” We strive to field an excellent team!”
Sheffield Wednesday fans could not have been more thrilled, with one stating, “I’ve bought my first season ticket ever,” and another adding, “I’ve bought my first season ticket in nearly thirty years because of the optimism you’ve instilled.” It’s apparent that Storch’s hands-on approach to reviving the team is becoming popular among Hillsborough fans.
David Storch has already been rewarded for his belief in Sheffield Wednesday and the club’s fans.

David Storch is discovering that caring about his followers is a simple approach to win big with them. One example is the club’s declaration last week that it will reduce the cost of season tickets for the upcoming season. Former owner Dejphon Chansiri constantly irritated Wednesday fans with season ticket price increases, despite the fact that the club’s fortunes on the pitch rarely improved.
The issue of remedial work at Hillsborough and the club’s training field is a different subject. This work is necessary for the stadium itself. The club was very close to closing the North Stand for the start of the 2025-26 season on safety reasons. Given Chansiri’s lack of investment in this aspect of the club’s operations, appropriate foundation repair is critical.
Working on the club’s training facilities might also benefit the club. Sheffield Wednesday must stand out in a highly competitive transfer market if they are to attract the players required to compete in League One next season, and because they spend so much time at their training ground, the quality of those facilities should be important to the type of players that the club wishes to bring in for the new season.
A crowded Hillsborough with fans rallying behind the squad will benefit the team in ways that would not have seemed imaginable during the Chansiri years. The tiny financial loss caused by lowering season ticket prices would be more than overcome if those fans had a good impact on the players. And, while working on the training field and stadium itself may not be as glamorous as bringing in a slew of new players, it is critical work that will benefit both the organization and the first-team squad in the long run.
This cheerfulness contrasts sharply with the mutinous atmosphere that pervaded the club just a few months prior. They couldn’t even pay their employees on time last year, and the seeds of the tragedy that would occur in 2025-26 were already being sown. However, under new ownership, all indications are that Sheffield Wednesday is moving in the right direction, and fans should look forward to the next season with optimism. And David Storch’s faith in the club and its fans has already been rewarded by the fan response to his initiatives. It all leads to 2026-27 being a considerably more enjoyable experience for Wednesday supporters than 2025-26 was.
