West Bromwich Albion’s summer renovation appears to be gaining momentum.
After a nerve-racking 25/26 Championship season in which the Baggies finished 21st, barely four points above the relegation zone, fans will undoubtedly be hoping that the club’s action in the coming weeks equals the urgency of that final table position.
Head coach James Morrison has previously stated that he is “the best man for the job,” and the forthcoming transfer window will be his first meaningful opportunity to show it.
With this in mind, FLW looks at the latest transfer rumors surrounding the Black Country club.
West Bromwich Albion’s seven-figure deal for an 18-goal striker was denied.

According to the Daily Record, Falkirk have rejected a seven-figure bid from West Brom for Barney Stewart, with the Scottish club standing firm despite serious interest from The Hawthorns.
According to the article, Albion have made “multiple offers” for the 22-year-old, with their most recent attempt falling short of Falkirk’s value.
Along with this, Football Insider stated that Lincoln City and Oxford United had bids rejected for Stewart, both of whom are Albion’s league rivals for next season.
Stewart scored 18 goals in 33 matches during the 25/26 season. This includes eight goals in 12 games while on loan at Dunfermline, before returning to Falkirk and scoring 10 goals in 21 games.
This stated interest makes great sense, especially since someone is leaving, as detailed below.
Triple Baggies’ exit has been confirmed.

West Brom have revealed that Jed Wallace, Daryl Dike, and goalkeeper Joe Wildsmith will all leave The Hawthorns this summer.
The fact that Dike is going adds to the previously stated interest in Barney Stewart among supporters.
While Wildsmith will leave after only 20 games since coming in 2024, the club paid respect to Wallace and Dike.
Wallace was regarded as “exemplary in his conduct as captain” on the retained list, while Dike “remained a popular figure around the club and with its supporters owing to his positive attitude in the face of adversity.”

Wallace leaves the Baggies with 150 appearances, 16 goals, and 16 assists, while Dike goes with 11 goals in 68 games across all competitions.
There are also 10 academy departures and, of course, first-team loan exits, including Charlie Taylor, Danny Imray, Jamaldeen Jimoh-Aloba, and Hindolo Mustapha.
Svante Ingelsson’s transfer update may upset West Bromwich Albion.

Svante Ingelsson, a Sheffield Wednesday midfielder, has also been connected with West Brom, although Stoke City are now the favourites to sign him, according to The Star.
Portsmouth and Millwall, two other Championship clubs, had their bids rejected in January, therefore, like Falkirk’s Stewart, the interest for the 27-year-old is fierce.
Ingelsson’s situation is particularly interesting because Sheffield Wednesday have already exercised a 12-month contract option, giving them some leverage despite the outside interest.
Even still, with numerous teams surrounding and Stoke emerging strongly, West Brom may need to act quickly if they want to sign the Swede.
Since joining Wednesday on a free transfer from Hansa Rostock in 2024, Ingelsson has appeared 79 times for the Owls, starting 39 league games this season.
