Breaking News: DONE DEAL Chelsea owners BlueCo agree £8m transfer to sign Brighton star

According to sources, defender Valentin Barco of Brighton is expected to sign with Strasbourg, a French team.

A year ago, the Seagulls paid $10 million (£7.8 million) to buy Barco from Boca Juniors.

Several Premier League teams, notably Manchester City, Liverpool, and Chelsea, had been keeping tabs on Barco while he was in Argentina.

The 20-year-old was permitted to sign a loan deal with Sevilla in August after failing to make an impression in his first few months at Brighton.

Barco has struggled for playing time ever since relocating to Spain; so far this season, he has only started three La Liga games.

Sevilla has been trying to get Barco back to Brighton, but according to Fabrizio Romano, the Argentine has already agreed to join Strasbourg, which shares ownership of BlueCo with Chelsea.

According to reports, an initial loan agreement has been reached for Barco, and Strasbourg will pay €10 million to finalise the Brighton transfer during the summer transfer window.

Additionally, Brighton has a 10% sell-on clause in case Barco decides to leave. The left-back is scheduled to travel to France on Sunday to join his new team after completing a medical examination in London on Saturday.

Fabian Hurzeler, the head coach of Brighton, stated in a statement on Friday that Barco would not be rejoining his team.

Hurzeler stated, “I don’t think this is the right environment for him right now.”

Hurzeler responded, “We follow every loan player, we follow his development, we have loan managers who are taking care of the loan players, and of course also from my side I’m always interested in how the loan players are doing,” when asked if he had kept an eye on his progress at Sevilla.

I worked with them during the preseason, though it wasn’t for very long. As a result, you form a relationship with them, so naturally, I keep up with their progress, and I believe this is also part of my job.
