Luton Town’s League One match against Notts County was stopped for eight minutes due to a violent clash of heads at Kenilworth Road. The incident occurred only nine minutes into the contest.
Jordan Clark, a Luton midfielder, and Darius Lipsiuc, a Notts County player, both attempted to head Emilio Lawrence’s cross.
However, the crash that followed sparked significant concern.
Clark appeared to have suffered the most from the collision, and both sets of players rushed to help him.
Paramedics responded promptly to treat the 32-year-old, who was then hoisted onto a stretcher and transported from the pitch.
Notts County goalkeeper James Belshaw amazingly kept the shot out of the net.
However, the primary issue was Clark, who was quickly replaced by Hatters manager Jack Wilshere.
After the game, Luton reported that the player was responsive and taken to the hospital as a precaution. We can provide an update to supporters on Jordan Clark’s condition following the head-on collision that forced him to be carried off in the first half,” according to a club statement.
“After being taken to the dressing room, Jordan was responsive and talking to the medical team, but has been taken to hospital for further assessment.”All of our love and best wishes for Clicker’s rapid recovery.”
A flurry of goals in an enjoyable 2-2 match
The encounter came to life in the closing moments of the first half, with Nakhi Wells putting Luton ahead from the penalty spot in the 41st minute.
However, Luton were unable to maintain their lead after halftime, as Callum Roberts levelled for the League One newcomers.
On the hour mark, Oliver Cooper gave the Magpies the lead, but Luton fought back to equalise eight minutes later through Callum Marshall.
Notts County, who began the season with a 1-1 draw at home against Leicester City last week, turned to social media to wish Clark the best.
The club said on X: “Sending our best regards to Luton’s Jordan Clark, who has been stretchered off with an injury received while making contact with the header.
“Darius Lipsiuc also required assessment after challenging Clark for the ball – but he’s OK to continue.”
Luton now sit second in the table ahead of Saturday’s 3pm kick-offs.
Meanwhile, Notts County has now drawn two successive games and is seventh in League One.
