Southampton and Wrexham Face a Major Transfer Setback as Premier League Clubs Prepare to Make Their Move

Henrik Falchener, a Southampton and Wrexham summer transfer target, is getting interest from clubs in the Premier League, Bundesliga, and Serie A.

According to journalist Florian Plettenberg, the defender has piqued the interest of several top-tier clubs following his strong performances for Viking FK.

The 23-year-old made his Champions League debut against Bayern Munich on Tuesday night, starting in a dramatic 3-3 draw.

The Norwegians took an unexpected 2-0 lead before goals from Harry Kane and Luis Diaz put the visitors ahead.

However, Herman Haugen’s last-minute goal secured an outstanding point for the team in their second game of the European campaign.

Viking lost 3-1 in their latest Champions League match and are currently ranked 26th on the League Phase table.

Southampton and Wrexham face competition in the Henrik Falchener hunt.

Falchener is thought to be garnering interest from a number of top-flight clubs, with a potential move planned for next summer.

Southampton made a €9.5 million (£7.7 million) offer for the center-back in the summer, but Viking refused to sell him.

Wrexham’s proposal of the same value was also rejected by the European side, and the two Championship clubs will now face fierce competition for his signature if they choose to pursue him again in the future.

Falchener has appeared in 15 of 21 Eliteserien games this season, contributing two goals and one assist.

He was a vital factor in Viking’s previous season as they won the Norwegian crown, scoring six goals in 29 league games.

The defender has been an integral part of their journey to the Champions League, prompting doubts about his future with the club.

Southampton and Wrexham may need to up their interest in the defender to compete with competitors.

Southampton and Wrexham’s promotion bids

Promotion to the Premier League might potentially help persuade Falchener to join Southampton or Wrexham, especially now that he has competed in the Champions League.

The Saints began the season with a four-point deduction penalty, but have won five of their first nine games.

Meanwhile, Phil Parkinson is under increasing pressure following the Red Dragons’ dismal start to the season, which included a 2-1 loss at West Brom on Tuesday night.

Tonda Eckert’s squad returns to play on Wednesday at 7.45pm against Norwich City.

Southampton and Wrexham will find it more difficult to sign Henrik Falchener following his Champions League performances.

Falchener is establishing himself on the highest platform in club football, making it more difficult for Southampton and Wrexham to sign him.

The £7.7 million bid in the summer was insufficient to secure a deal, and the defender’s asking price is only likely to rise with his recent performances.

The center-back is under contract until 2029, thus Viking is not in a position to sell, making the issue even more tough.

Given the increased focus surrounding him, Southampton and Wrexham may need to gain promotion this season in order to bring him in.
