Sir Alex Ferguson to Make Return to Dugout After ex-Man United Man’s Favour

For Giuseppe Rossi’s final game in March 2025, legendary Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is scheduled to make a one-time appearance in the dugout. The usually obstinate Scot, according to the former striker, accepted his offer of a comeback right away.

Ferguson, who was born in Govan, was a complete revelation at Old Trafford after leaving Aberdeen in 1986. During his tenure, he amassed an impressive 13 Premier League titles. He retired in 2013 after winning one last trophy on the last day of the English top flight season.

Respected as one of the greatest football managers in history, Ferguson will be back in the dugout next month when Rossi takes center stage in Florence to commemorate his stellar career leading teams like SPAL and Celta Vigo.

When Manchester United held a legends’ game against Bayern Munich in 2019, to commemorate 20 years since their historic triple victory in 1999, Ferguson returned to the Old Trafford dugout.

Rossi, a former striker for Fiorentina and Villareal, hung up his boots in 2023, and his final game, one that will honor his career, is scheduled for March 22. According to The Sun, the 38-year-old has stated that Ferguson will be there in the role of a coach. Ferguson was my first coach; I signed with him when I was 17, and we played sparingly for three years, but he said yes right away, which demonstrates the kind of person he is.

Rossi added that Ferguson still treats him like Cristiano Ronaldo, even though he hasn’t played much for the Old Trafford-based team. “I did little at United, but he treats me like Cristiano Ronaldo, who has scored 1000 goals.” Ferguson, one of the greatest man-managers in football history, saw him when he was still learning his craft in Parma’s youth academy and gambled on his services in 2004, but he only played 14 games.

In that time frame, the 30-cap Italy international netted a meager four goals – but as a testament to Ferguson’s character, he’s apparently consented to return to the bench of the Stadio Franchi Stadium for a day, called ‘Pepito Day’, to celebrate the former marksman.
