Norwich City has moved quickly in the summer transfer window, with three major additions already made at Carrow Road.
The Canaries made a statement by spending an initial £8 million to buy Andre Brooks from divisional rivals Sheffield United, but they also moved quickly to make Sam Field’s loan from QPR permanent, as well as bring in talented centre-back Bruno Alves on loan from Cruzeiro.
Given how outstanding Norwich were in the second part of last season under Clement, there may not have been much room for improvement this summer.
In 2026, the Canaries scored the second-most points in the division, averaging two points per game over 22 league games. If it hadn’t been for Liam Manning’s disastrous start to the season, when they were second-bottom when he left, they would have finished in the top six.
So, conducting business early and enabling new arrivals to integrate into an already strong group was critical for Philippe Clement this summer, and with a month until the new season begins, the Belgian isn’t expecting much more in terms of additions.
Philippe Clement discusses Norwich City’s transfer state of play.

Norwich now boast a good blend of experience and exciting youth across their roster, and Canaries manager Phillipe Clement said that there was a strong incentive to strike the ground running this summer to strengthen the team.
According to Pink Un, the Belgian head coach spent part of his family vacation assessing targets to ensure a speedy turnaround when the window opened on June 15.No [days off], but it doesn’t bother me. That’s what I desire. “I don’t want to miss any time or a transfer because I was unavailable,
” he explained.Ben [Knapper] is aware; we have communicated extensively with him and Lee [Dunn] over the previous transfers. Three transfers. In comparison to other teams, this is a significant amount. We could act quickly, especially with the owners coming in, like they did with Andre,
because it’s a significant investment for the club, so I believe a lot of the good work has already been completed. We won’t be doing many more transfers, which makes me delighted.”
Norwich are still looking for a new left-back, but in terms of adding experience in the centre of the park and a new star right-winger, Clement is pleased with the progress thus far.
“You have to look for a mix in the squad,” he explained. “We discussed acquiring more experienced players; that was the initial plan, as well as for that right flank position, but then there was a wonderful circumstance with Andre, who I believe will be a significant transfer in the future. “I see enormous potential.”
Brooks shown last season that he is on the verge of developing into a quality winger at the Championship level. Taking him from a direct rival in Sheffield United is one thing, but if he can rediscover his potential at Carrow Road, Norwich might be a formidable team next season.
Norwich City are already in a fantastic position to kick on this season.

With the team nearly complete, Norwich has a significant advantage over many of their Championship counterparts, who may see their transfer business leak into the start of the season and continue until the September 1st deadline.
Clement can now devote his whole attention to preparing the team for the EFL Cup start against MK Dons on August 8th, followed by the league opener against West Brom the following week.
“I’ve been in situations in the past where you get to late July, August, and I had to watch every evening again, new players, and you look at 300 players all summer long, because deals collapse at the last moment,” the Canaries boss said. You waste a lot of energy doing that. We don’t have much to do now because most of it was done last season. A youthful group was formed, and they demonstrated potential; we want to push them again at a greater level, so you must offer them opportunities.”
Norwich also had a hectic transfer window last season. Under Clement, they signed Mohamed Toure, Ali Ahmed, and Paris Maghoma in January, as well as Field on loan, thus much of the Belgian’s preparation ahead of this first full year was completed midway through last year.
Those four, as well as Jovon Makama, Jacob Wright, and Pelle Mattsson, have the potential to grow even more in the coming season, and players like Mathias Kvistgaarden, Papa Diallo, and Mirko Topic, who got off to a bad start due to injury and poor form, aren’t giving up just yet.
The future is bright at Carrow Road, and with a full, uninterrupted pre-season, Norwich stand a decent chance of beginning next season where they left off last season, which might lay the groundwork for a Premier League comeback.
