Fans of Manchester United have made a complete about-face regarding a player who was subjected to significant criticism following a chaotic victory over Ipswich Town by a score of 3-2 on Wednesday night.
Jaden Philogene scored an easy goal when Patrick Dorgu and Andre Onana were involved in a terrible mix-up that allowed Jaden Philogene to score. This caused United to fall behind by a score of 1-0 early on.
With the help of an own goal scored by Sam Morsy and a tap-in goal scored by Matthijs de Ligt, the Red Devils were able to turn the tide of the game and take a 2-1 lead.
Then, however, Dorgu’s night went from bad to worse when he was kicked off for a horror challenge on Omari Hutchinson. Onana then made another mistake, which led to Philogene scoring his second goal.
Harry Maguire scored the game-winning goal for United, which was playing with ten players, early in the second half. This victory allowed United to move up to the fourteenth spot in the Premier League table.
And despite the fact that Ruben Amorim’s team did not produce a convincing performance, United supporters have now changed their minds about Joshua Zirkzee.
Zirkzee struggled to get going at Old Trafford and was brutally taken off after just 32 minutes of play against Newcastle in December. This was despite the fact that he scored the game-winning goal on his debut against Fulham. A return to Italy was one of the options that was considered at one point in time, and he was heavily linked with an early exit from United.
However, he was able to redeem himself in a sense when he scored the winning penalty in the FA Cup match against Arsenal at the Emirates. Although there is still room for improvement, supporters have been impressed with how he has applied himself in the recent weeks.
In a very short period of time, Zirkzee has made a significant amount of progress, as stated by a fan on X. Although his finishing is still an area in which he needs improvement, his overall play is outstanding. He’s giving me a second thought.”
“Zirkzee, you’re coming good brother,” they wrote in the second person.
Another person lauded the Dutchman, adding, “Since being booed off at halftime, Joshua Zirkzee has demonstrated more character and determination than 99% of the squad has ever shown in their careers.” In the time since that incident, he has performed exceptionally well, and he is rapidly becoming one of my favourite players to watch in this s**t show.
A fourth individual commented: “Zirkzee won’t give you 20 goals a season, but the guy works his socks off whenever he’s given a chance.”
One last user commented, “Joshua Zirkzee is getting better with each game that he plays.” He has a desire to improve himself and to hone his skills. The fundamentals of a great football player are present in him.
With a transfer fee of £36.5 million, Zirkzee made the move from Bologna to United. The 23-year-old player signed a contract that was for a period of five years. His total number of appearances across all competitions is 38, and he has scored five goals.
United are scheduled to return to action on Sunday, when they will play Fulham at home in the fifth round of the FA Cup. On Thursday, they will play Real Sociedad in a Europa League round of 16 first leg match.
