Coventry City face a genuine exit threat involving Frank Lampard, as a fresh update emerges from Bournemouth.

Coventry City are on the verge of regaining their position in the Premier League after 25 years away.

Frank Lampard oversaw Sunderland’s semi-final defeat in 2025, while Mark Robins’ team fell to Luton Town in the final at Wembley Stadium in 2023.

However, with four games remaining, the club is only one point away from securing a spot in the top two.

A 0-0 draw against Sheffield Wednesday last weekend left them in position, however a win over the Owls would have pushed them over the top.

Lampard has received a lot of praise for his performances at the CBS Arena since taking over the first team in November 2024.

Fears about Frank Lampard’s exit at Coventry City are growing.

According to i News, Lampard has emerged as a top possibility to take over at Bournemouth this summer.

Andoni Iraola is scheduled to leave the Cherries at the end of the season when his contract expires.

Kieran McKenna has also been linked with the position, and Ipswich Town is also on the verge of automatic promotion to the Premier League.

While no immediate front-runner has been named, it’s believed that the Coventry boss is firmly in the frame to take over at the Vitality Stadium.

Rayo Vallecano manager Iñigo Pérez is regarded one of the primary possibilities to replace Iraola, as the squad presently ranks 13th in La Liga.

It remains to be seen whether Lampard is willing to leave the Sky Blues to take on such a position, with Bournemouth sitting 11th in the Premier League following last Saturday’s 2-1 victory against league leaders Arsenal.

In recent months, the 47-year-old has been linked with Crystal Palace and a return to Chelsea.

Lampard is under contract with Coventry until June 2027, and the squad leads the Championship table by 12 points above Millwall in third place.

The Sky Blues’ next match is against Blackburn Rovers on April 17 at 8 p.m., with a draw enough to secure a top-two berth in the table.

Frank Lampard would be a step down from Andoni Iraola,

who has led Bournemouth to great success, as evidenced by their recent triumph against Arsenal.

The Spaniard might be in line for a number of top positions this summer, and replacing him with Lampard would be a step back for the Cherries.

However, the former midfielder may contemplate this move because Bournemouth is a very tempting club, particularly if they qualify for European football.

It would be bad for Coventry if Lampard left, but it might not be the worst blow, as his prior work in the Premier League left a lot to be desired, and there are serious doubts about his ability to progress from the Championship.
