Lisandro Martinez Hits Back at Paul Scholes’ Criticism

After Paul Scholes, a former Manchester United midfielder, said the Argentine defender wasn’t good enough to win a Premier League title, Lisandro Martinez retaliated. Martínez, who paid £55 million to join United from Ajax in 2022, has missed the remainder of the season because of a knee injury he suffered during a 2-0 loss to Crystal Palace earlier this month.

Scholes has nevertheless launched a biting critique despite this. “Even when he’s fit, he’s not good enough to win the Premier League with,” the Ginger Prince said frankly in a recent episode of the Overlap podcast, evidently kicking Martinez while he’s already down.

Martinez is now ensuring that he is still involved in the game by protecting himself off the pitch even though he is not playing. The 27-year-old has been one of the few bright spots under Ruben Amorim, and he has now reacted to Scholes’ jabs.

Lisandro Martinez Hits Back At Paul Scholes

The Argentinean defender hasn’t taken to the United legends’ criticism well

Scholes has already expressed scepticism about Martinez when he stated last month that he would be willing to transfer him as part of a significant United reconstruction. Despite having played much more games than English duo Mason Mount and Luke Shaw, he was forced into the same bracket as them.

Martinez decided to ignore the first jab, but Scholes’ second jab was sufficient to catch his attention. On Tuesday night, Martinez posted on Instagram:

“This jinx guy is in a lot of pain.If you placed him in Argentina, he wouldn’t make it.”
