Wrexham player involved in car crash as club issues official statement

Following the news that one of their players was involved in a car accident, Wrexham has issued an official statement.

A quarterfinal match of the Football League Trophy was played on Tuesday night, and the Red Dragons were competing against Bolton Wanderers. The match was a part of the competition.

Wrexham secured their spot in the round of four with a 1-0 victory thanks to Andy Cannon’s goal in the 70th minute, which resulted in the game’s definitive outcome.

On the other hand, the victory has been tainted by the fact that the club has confirmed that first team player Elliot Lee was involved in an accident while he was returning home after the match.

In a statement released by the club, it was stated that “Wrexham AFC can confirm that last night, after the Vertu Trophy match against Bolton Wanderers, a first-team player (Elliot Lee) was involved in a road traffic incident when returning home.”

Each of the drivers of the two vehicles were transported to the hospital as a result of the incident, which involved a single other vehicle. The Club would like to express its gratitude to the emergency services for their prompt response and action, which was demonstrated by their prompt arrival at the scene.

Lee did not sustain any serious injuries, as was revealed in the subsequent part of the statement.

Further, it was stated that the player did not sustain any serious injuries, while the driver of the other vehicle is currently receiving medical treatment for their injuries. It is not possible for the Club to provide any further commentary at this time.

The previous month, James McClean, another star player from Wrexham, was also involved in a collision with another vehicle.

According to a statement released by the police, the accident that occurred to McClean occurred close to “the A534 in Wrexham” while the Irishman was on his way to attending training.

“Now that the game is over, to address yesterday, an experience I never wish to encounter again,” the 35-year-old wrote on social media. “Now that the game is over, to address everything that happened yesterday.”

“I am blessed and thankful I managed to walk away with minor injuries and return home to my family tho much to the disappointment of some smelly scruffy pathetic creatures that messaged my wife online, thank you for the messages of support.”

On Saturday afternoon, Wrexham will resume their League One competition against Northampton Town. This will be the club’s first game since the previous weekend.
