Ulla Sandrock, Jurgen Klopp’s spouse, has been involved in the community for the nine years that the Liverpool manager has been in charge, ending with today’s final game.
This summer, Jurgen Klopp is expected to depart Liverpool, which will also mark Ulla Sandrock’s departure from Merseyside.
The German ends the greatest run of Liverpool’s success since the 1980s under Bob Paisley and Joe Fagan by managing his final game as the Reds’ manager against Wolves.
Since Klopp and his wife Ulla Sandrock will shortly be returning to their native Germany, the news of their departure from Anfield is heartbreaking for supporters everywhere.
The couple, who got together at Munich’s Oktoberfest, has been together since 2005 and is actively involved in the community, with Ulla giving money, time, and effort to the area.
During the lockdown in 2020, the children’s novelist made a “substantial” donation to the Formby Community Football Club, enabling the delivery of food and medication during a time when many were in need.
The Liverpool Echo understands that the wife of the Liverpool manager gave 20 separate £50 store vouchers to the employees who were on the shop floor at the time. She also gave out £1,000 worth of food vouchers to the staff at the Waitrose shop in Formby as a “thank you” for her continuous support of the community.
Ulla, who is 56 years old, is credited with making Klopp’s tenure at Liverpool last this long. Klopp signed a contract extension in 2022 because she wanted to stay in England.
Speaking at the time, Klopp made light of the fact that, although his original goal was to leave the club in 2024, he was being a “good husband” by honoring his wife’s wishes and extending his contract to 2026. On Liverpool’s X account, he stated: “I have an announcement to make. Similar to the previous time, some people will find it appealing, while others won’t be overly fond of it. Put it down right away if you don’t like it.
“I stay for an additional two years by myself. No, and this is actually the most important part—all of my coaches will too. Why? is the query at this point. Ulla wants to stay, so what are you doing as a good husband when your wife wishes to stay? You’re going to stay.”
“The contract I signed with Ulla was the most important one I’ve ever signed,” he continued. And that’s the reason it started all over again—ulla actually told us, sitting at the kitchen table, that she couldn’t imagine us leaving in 2024. “What?” I exclaimed. That’s how it all began, and at that point, I said, “Let me think about it.”
