Before the January transfer deadline, Alejandro Garnacho might depart Manchester United for Chelsea.
According to sources, Alejandro Garnacho is getting ready to depart Manchester United before the January transfer deadline because Chelsea and Napoli are interested. But by allowing his departure so late in the winter window, the 20-year-old demonstrated on Thursday night why Ruben Amorim would be making a mistake.
Garnacho is the perfect alternative for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who signed a £59 million contract with Paris Saint-Germain earlier this month, according to Napoli.
The Independent asserts that Chelsea is waiting in the wings and that the Serie A powerhouses have not even approached United’s £70 million asking price.
Although the Blues have not yet made an official offer for Garnacho, one is anticipated to reach Old Trafford before Monday at 11 p.m.
With 23 goals and 15 assists in 121 games, Garnacho is among United’s most exciting academy graduates in recent memory.
Naturally, any fan would find it difficult to accept the idea of the Argentine departing the team altogether.
With little time left to adequately replace him in Amorim’s already thin assault, a late departure to Chelsea would be much more painful.
And the general desire for Garnacho to stay was bolstered by his performance in United’s Europa League victory over FCSB.
Amorim called on the No. 17 on the bench at halftime despite confessing that he had battled an illness all week. He was joined by Amad.
After Garnacho entered the game, United won 2-0 thanks to goals from Diogo Dalot and Kobbie Mainoo, the latter of whom he assisted in creating.
Along with his assist, Garnacho finished the game with five dribbles, four fouls, and a hit against the post in the first forty-five minutes.
He gave the visitors life at Bucharest’s National Stadium by creating two opportunities overall and winning eight of his 12 contested ground duels.
Garnacho’s preference to play as a wide winger and his incompatibility with Amorim’s 3-4-3 system have been the main justifications for United to cash in on him.
However, the Portuguese coach has maintained that he is improving and learning how to get his inside forwards to perform.
Amorim has also stated that he is content with Garnacho and would like to keep him on board, although being evasive about his future after the deadline.
Over the weekend, Chelsea has the opportunity to put United’s determination to the test. Otherwise, if Garnacho keeps going in the same direction, the chance might be gone forever.
