Frank Lampard is reportedly considering a move to bring Mason Mount to Coventry City.

Coventry City are preparing for their return to the Premier League after a 25-year sabbatical.

The Sky Blues won the Championship title on their way back to the big time, having not competed since 2001.

Frank Lampard has received a lot of credit for his involvement in their success after taking over as head coach in November 2024 in place of Mark Robins.

He led the squad to fifth place last season, but was eliminated from the play-offs in the semi-finals against Sunderland.

However, the 47-year-old was able to reorganize with the squad, and they finished first this season, ahead of Ipswich Town, Millwall, and Middlesbrough.

It might be a hectic summer for the club, as they attempt to develop a team capable of surviving in the top division.

Frank Lampard is pressing for a Chelsea reunion this summer.

Si Phillips has stated that Lampard is hoping to reconcile with his former Chelsea teammate Mason Mount.

The pair first worked together at Derby County during the playmaker’s loan spell in 2018/19 before reuniting at Stamford Bridge in 2019.

Lampard is eager to work with the 27-year-old again after Coventry’s promotion to the Premier League.

The midfielder left the Blues during the 2023 summer transfer window, joining Manchester United for an estimated £55 million.

However, he has battled for playing time at Old Trafford, with injuries limiting his availability for the past three years.

Mount has appeared in 20 Premier League games this season, but has only started 10 of them, as the Red Devils get closer to Champions League qualifying.

However, it remains to be seen whether his future is with Manchester United, as he has made only four appearances since Michael Carrick’s arrival in January, all of which were as a replacement.

Mount is under contract with the Premier League club until June 2028, and it is unclear what kind of asking price Coventry could set if they push for his signing.

The Sky Blues have also been linked with re-signing James Maddison.

Carl Rushworth, who has spent the season on loan at the CBS Arena, is also expected to join them permanently.

Mason Mount’s signing would be pretty ambitious for Coventry.

Mount’s fitness concerns have been well documented, and they have been a significant impediment to his progress at Manchester United, despite the fact that he has performed admirably when available.

Coventry would be taking a significant risk by signing him, given his signature and wage demands are unlikely to be cheap.

Lampard saw Mount at his peak, and working together again might be beneficial if he stays fit.

The 27-year-old has shown flashes of his old self this season, but it is evident that he has slid down the pecking order under Carrick, who is expected to become Manchester United’s next permanent head coach.

That might lead to an exit from the club and a possible move to the CBS Arena.
