Sheffield United will enter the final round of Championship games this weekend with nothing but pride to play for.
Chris Wilder’s squad is not in contention for promotion to the Premier League after reaching the play-off final 12 months ago.
The Blades are also not in danger of relegation, despite the fact that the 58-year-old helped the club climb out of the bottom three when he returned to the dugout in September.
Yorkshire fell to the bottom of the table after losing their first six games of the season, but they can still finish in the top half with a win this weekend and other results going their way.
Sheffield United will be looking for a productive summer ahead of the upcoming season, with their sights set on returning to promotion contention.
The club will no longer get parachute payments, which will have a significant impact on their ability to invest in the transfer market.
Sheffield United downplay behind-the-scenes changes.

According to The Star, Sheffield United has downplayed the recent decision to remove Stephen Bettis as a director.
COH Sports acquired the Blades in December 2024, during the team’s promotion campaign, and Bettis remained CEO as part of the arrangement.
He was appointed to the board in April 2025, along with several other names, including film director Joe Russo.
However, a change earlier this year limited the board to only Steven Rosen, Helmy Eltoukhy, and Bettis.
Despite these changes, it is claimed that business at Bramall Lane continues as usual, with Bettis no longer serving as a director.
The CEO remains on the board, and it is assumed that the changes, which have already been recorded with Companies House, are simply housekeeping.
Bettis was initially hired as Sheffield United’s chief executive in 2016, but returned in 2018 after a brief absence.
He has received a lot of praise for supervising the day-to-day operations of the Yorkshire club as they rose from League One to the Premier League under Wilder and then Paul Heckingbottom.
It is believed that he impressed Rosen and Eltoukhy, the proprietors of COH Sports, enough to keep him in the position despite the ownership shift.
Sheffield United will end the season this Saturday with a 12.30pm kick-off away to Derby County.

Sheffield United are preparing for the summer.
Sheffield United has moved its furniture significantly, although this should have no significant influence on the club’s day-to-day operations.
It might be a busy summer at Bramall Lane, and Bettis will be a major role in any recruitment ambitions, given he is ultimately in charge of funds.
He’s developed a reputation as an essential figure behind the scenes at the Yorkshire club, and fans would be anxious if he left.
So supporters will be relieved to learn that it is business as usual heading into the summer transfer season.
