Arsenal ‘to be forced’ to sell one of their main players in order to secure sensational summer signing

Depending on the findings of a recent report, Arsenal might have to make a significant sale in order to acquire their top summer target.

Since the club’s hierarchy and manager Mikel Arteta reached an agreement in January to refrain from signing attacking reinforcements, the Gunners are currently missing a striker from their roster.

According to The Athletic, the reasoning behind that decision was to remain patient until the summer, when targets with a higher priority would become available.

However, Arsenal’s chances of winning the Premier League for the first time since 2004 are dwindling by the week as a result of this strategy, which has so far met with a spectacular failure.

Despite the fact that they have a game in hand on their closest competitors, they are currently 13 points behind the leaders Liverpool with only 12 games left to play!

When Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka, and Gabriel Martinelli are all fully fit, the Gunners will have the opportunity to add more attacking players to their roster through the transfer market. This is at least something that the Gunners can look forward to during the preseason.

However, the Daily Mirror writes that in order for Arsenal to be able to fund a summer rebuild in that particular area of the pitch, they might have to sell one of those three players.

As a result of Saudi Arabia’s interest in the subject, it has been speculated that either Martinelli or Leandro Trossard might be on the market this summer.

Arsenal would be in a better position to pursue a move for Alexander Isak, who has been the best striker in the Premier League this season, if they acquire the funds from that sale, according to the report. Isak has been playing for Newcastle.

Last week, the Spanish publication Sport reported that Newcastle would entertain the possibility of selling the Swedish striker for approximately €100 million (£83 million) in the event that they were unable to qualify for the Champions League for the following season. However, even that price would appear to be on the lower end of the market in the present day.

It has been reported that the 25-year-old player, who has scored 21 goals across all competitions this season, is being offered for sale at a price of €150 million, which may be a more reasonable valuation of himself.

Arsenal’s current club transfer record is the £100 million they paid to West Ham in the summer of 2023 to acquire the services of Declan Rice, a midfielder. If Arsenal were to pay that fee, it would be a record-breaking acquisition for the club.
