Bristol City are still looking for a new manager, and Portsmouth’s John Mousinho has been identified as a possible candidate.
The Robins concluded the season under temporary manager Roy Hodgson, who led them to a 12th-place finish with a final-day victory over Stoke City.
Meanwhile, Mousinho helped Pompey retain their Championship status for another season, leading them to victories over Middlesbrough and Ipswich Town in their final six games.
However, the 40-year-old has urged Portsmouth owner Michael Eisner to invest more in the club in order to reduce relegation fears next season.
Bristol City find out whether John Mousinho is eager to relocate to Ashton Gate.

Bristol City advanced to the Championship play-offs in 2025, but were unable to repeat their success this season, finishing in mid-table.
The Robins fired former manager Gerhard Struber in March due to a poor run of form, prompting Hodgson’s surprise comeback to management at the age of 78.
Struber was not entirely responsible for the Ashton Gate club’s dismal performance prior to his dismissal, as they sold important players Anis Mehmeti and Zak Vyner during the winter transfer window.
Meanwhile, interim manager Hodgson led the Robins to victories over Charlton Athletic, Sheffield United, and Stoke.
In April, TalkSPORT’s Alex Crook disclosed via X that Bristol City had expressed interest in Mousinho as they looked for their next permanent boss.
Now, BBC South’s Andrew Moon has revealed on X that Mousinho will not be joining the Robins.
That revelation comes despite the fact that, according to BBC Sport, Bristol City’s move for Bournemouth assistant Tommy Elphick has been called off, with the 38-year-old poised to remain at the Vitality Stadium and join Marco Rose’s coaching staff.
Rose has agreed to join the Cherries to replace Andoni Iraola, who led the Dorset side to the Europa League for the first time in its history, and Elphick will be a part of the next stage of their adventure.
Portsmouth must now support John Mousinho after the Bristol City upgrade.

The revelation that Mousinho is not poised to join Bristol City boosts Portsmouth’s hopes of keeping the 40-year-old, who has done an excellent job in the Fratton Park dugout.
He guided Pompey to the League One title in 2024 and has since helped them retain Championship status for two seasons in a row.
However, having witnessed two successive relegation battles, Mousinho wants to lead Portsmouth to greater heights, which will only be achievable with additional funding from Eisner.
Pompey must back their manager in the summer transfer market, since he appears to be gathering external suitors and may eventually depart Fratton Park, despite his current Bristol City rejection.
The South Coast club’s decision to sign winger Adrian Segecic from Sydney last summer proved to be an inspired one, as he went on to score 11 goals and four assists in the Championship.
Portsmouth will need to do more wise business ahead of the 2026/27 season, or they risk losing Mousinho, who has re-established them in the second division.
Perhaps getting Millenic Alli, who showed promise while on loan from Luton Town, on a permanent basis would be a solid start to the summer transfer market.
