Harry Maguire lauded the contributions of Alejandro Garnacho and Joshua Zirkzee in Manchester United’s victory over Leicester City. He stated that the players were aware that Garnacho would provide them with the spark they required prior to his introduction at halftime.
With a dramatic 2-1 victory at Old Trafford, United advanced to the fifth round of the competition. Maguire scored the game-winning goal in the 93rd minute, which sealed the victory for United.
After Bobby De Cordova-Reid scored the game’s first goal just before halftime, the Reds were unable to recover from their first-half performance and found themselves trailing by a score of 1-0 at the break.
After the halftime break, United made progress thanks to the substitution of Garnacho, who took over for Patrick Dorgu, who was making his debut. The addition of his spark in attack was much-needed, and he played a significant role in United’s equaliser, which was scored by Zirkzee, who was also a substitute substitute.
When Maguire was asked if he agreed that Garnacho altered the game, he responded to ITV by saying, “Yes, of course.” Although he always does that when he comes off the bench, I believe that he made a significant impact. I give him credit for that.
At halftime, we were aware that he would probably bring a little bit more directness and pace to the team. He is ready, he is focused, and we knew that he would probably do that. It was also Josh who came on, and I thought he made a significant contribution to the game.
When it came to the first half, United was nothing short of a complete and utter failure, as they did not manage to get a single shot on target. As a consequence, some of the fans booed them off the field, and Maguire admitted that the Reds are having a hard time figuring out why they are starting games so slowly.
Adding, “I don’t know,” Maguire continued. They are unable to put their finger on it, because if they could, we would have done so. In spite of the fact that we are aware that there is talent within the team, we are not currently displaying that talent to the best of our abilities. There is no question about that.
We have a really poor record at Old Trafford, and I believe that we have lost that little bit of belief and that little bit of confidence, and it is showing.
“Amorim will be a great coach at Man United but he must change this” : The former manager of Manchester United, Jose Mourinho, has given Ruben Amorim the advice that he should change ONE thing if he truly wants to be successful.
“It seems as though our body language is a little bit down and lethargic, but we need to win games in order to bring that back, and we will do that,” the coach said.
The game was totally altered by Amorim’s substitutions.
Amorim’s substitutes improved the game against Leicester City, just as they did in Bucharest the previous week. This was comparable to what they did in Bucharest.
Additionally, Zirkzee provided a presence in the front line, while Garnacho shone from the left flank.
In the event that Zirkzee is able to come off the bench and immediately have a greater impact on the game, this does not bode well for Rasmus Hojlund.
In the event that Zirkzee is able to continue scoring significant goals from the bench, Amorim will see him as a potential candidate for additional starts.
