Rene Meulensteen, a former coach at Manchester United, is of the opinion that Bruno Fernandes might eventually end up playing for Real Madrid this summer.
There have been rumours circulating in recent days that the captain of the Red Devils could be moving to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Meulensteen has acknowledged that he may still leave Old Trafford, despite the fact that Ruben Amorim has denied the reports.
While the 61-year-old was appearing on Breakfast to talk about his previous club, he was asked if there were any players in his squad that were considered to be “unsellable.”
Meulensteen provided the following explanation: “There are always players that you want to hold on to, and there were plenty of them, but you know that it’s the nature of the beast and the market how it is.”
In the event that players are interested in bettering themselves or moving to a different club or country, it is difficult to prevent them from doing so.
According to what I’ve heard, you are aware of the rumours that Real Madrid may be interested in him. At least, that’s what I’ve heard.
“Which is something that I can understand because it is obvious that Luka Modric is getting older, and I believe that he would be a perfect fit for that Real Madrid franchise.
When you consider all of the players that are surrounding him and his passing range, I can tell you that it would be an absolute ball for him. He is the epitome of happiness.
On the other hand, I believe that Bruno is extremely dedicated to Manchester United, and I believe that the club simply cannot afford to lose him anymore.
The fact that Luka Modric, who turned 39 in September, will no longer be under contract in the Spanish capital this summer makes it more likely that Fernandes will be transferred to another club.
In spite of this, Amorim has provided a direct response to the reports that circulated prior to his team’s defeat at the hands of Nottingham Forest. He has stated, “No, it is not going to happen.”
The manager of Manchester United continued by saying, “We are in control of the situation, and I have the impression that he is really happy here, particularly because he understands what we want to do, and then I think he is one more supporter of Man United because of that.”
“He is experiencing it fully. Sometimes the frustration that you see, that everyone else sees, and that maybe is not a good thing in a captain is something that needs to be addressed.
demonstrates that he has a strong desire for this.
“I have already informed him that he is not going anywhere, and this is the kind of player that we are looking for,” the individual said.
Since signing with the Red Devils in January 2020, Fernandes has made 278 appearances for the team, during which time he has scored 95 goals and provided 82 assists.
There have been an astounding 32 goal contributions made during the current campaign from those individuals.
With United holding the option to extend the contract for an additional year, the contract of the Portugal international is not scheduled to expire until the year 2027.
Over the course of Sir Alex Ferguson’s tenure at the club, Meulensteen served in two different capacities, the first of which was as the manager of the club’s reserve team from the years 2001 to 2006.
After one year, the Dutchman went back to United to work as a technical coach before being promoted to the position of assistant to Ferguson.
After having coached Cristiano Ronaldo during his rise to prominence as one of the best players in the world, he continued to serve in that capacity until the legendary manager parted ways in 2013.
Ronaldo was a member of the United team that won eight trophies in three years up until his departure for Real Madrid in 2009. In 2008, Ronaldo won his first Ballon d’Or, and he was a part of the team that won eight trophies.
It was during Meulensteen’s tenure as a member of the coaching staff that the Red Devils were able to win not only three consecutive league titles but also the Champions League and the Club World Cup.
