Sheffield Wednesday could be poised for David Storch’s Hillsborough takeover in the coming weeks, as talks appear to be heating up.
The season is almost ended, and tickets to the final day game versus West Brom at Hillsborough are selling out. Sheffield Wednesday might have a crucial couple of weeks, not just with the possibility to come out of zero points, but also with the takeover.
For some time, May 1st has been regarded as the deadline for Wednesday and David Storch to strive toward. That moment is swiftly approaching, with only one day till what could be a party atmosphere against the Baggies.
Owls fans are hoping that Storch’s prediction about the timetable is right. They have suffered greatly in 2025/26, but there will be some light at the end of the tunnel. It would provide some hope and a platform for 2026/27 as well.
Sheffield Wednesday verdict while talks between Dejphon Chansiri and David Storch continue.

Football League World spoke with our resident Sheffield Wednesday fan pundit Patrick McKenna about his quick reaction to the current reports that a Sheffield Wednesday takeover could be finalized in time for the West Brom encounter.
Talks with Dejphon Chansiri’s representatives are still underway, and progress is being made with the EFL; it is not quite complete, but everything is looking well. We inquired for his quick reaction and whether he was excited about the current developments.
He stated: “In regards to this takeover, obviously everything isn’t completed and it’s not over the line just yet.”But this is just wonderful news, I suppose. If they build this in time for the West Brom game, which is currently nearly sold out, the atmosphere will be incredible.
“I’m shocked that conversations are underway with Chansiri. That is something I never imagined would happen. It would be significant if they were able to secure his participation in the transaction. If they can make progress with the completely useless EFL, that’s even better news. Yeah, like I mentioned, this sounds promising. It’s hard not to become enthused about it. “Remember, we are Sheffield Wednesday.”We don’t always have good fortune, so let’s not get ahead of ourselves. These are the types of revelations you want to hear, and hopefully the good news continues and the takeover is completed.”
Sheffield Wednesday’s prospects under David Storch

Sheffield Wednesday fans already have great plans for the West Brom game on the final day, but a takeover would create a carnival atmosphere for them, as Storch’s potential takeover might represent a true turning point for Sheffield Wednesday.
After years of stagnation under Chansiri, they have now regressed. His reign has been distinguished by financial turmoil, point deductions, transfer embargoes, and a complete estrangement between ownership and fans.
On the pitch, this volatility resulted in relegation, poor recruitment, and a lack of a defined long-term strategy. For a club of their size and stature, they have squandered its potential and infrastructure.
A successful takeover will provide the much-needed reset for Wednesday. With good leadership and strategy, there is a real chance to reawaken what is still a sleeping giant of English football. Leicester City may also be in the League. One next term, however Wednesday is historically the most powerful player in the third tier.
Storch has all of his basics in place. Fanbase, history, and stature. It won’t take much to bring the fans on board because they’ve just been mismanaged. Storch and his consortium represent an opportunity to ultimately realize this football club’s potential.
