The 60-cap England international’s thoughts on his former colleague Jadon Sancho’s “freedom” comment on his most recent Instagram post following his debut for Aston Villa on Sunday night have been made public by sources close to his camp.
With Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain among his possible suitors, the Carrington graduate decided to move on to fresh pastures after being rejected by Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim. This decision ultimately resulted in a loan move to Villa Park.
One of the most well-known Premier League players, Rashford, thanked his supporters on social media following his first minutes wearing a Villa uniform for their unwavering support during the team’s 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup fourth round.
Sancho, a player who was also sent out on loan by the Red Devils, commented on that post. The winger, who is currently playing for Chelsea, has had a challenging run, with two goals and six assists in 22 games.
“Thank you for the warm welcome,” Rashford wrote as the description for his photo. Fantastic team effort.”, while his friend and former teammate from Old Trafford, Sancho, made a direct jab at Manchester United by merely saying: “Freedom!”
In the latter part of his stint at Old Trafford, Sancho, like Rashford, found himself on the fringes following a public dispute with Erik ten Hag. He thus relocated to west London during the summer, and Enzo Maresca’s team is required to pay £25 million for it.
Even though Ten Hag was fired and Amorim took his place less than four months ago, according on his most recent remarks, it seems that Sancho, one of the highest-paid English football players in the world, still harbours resentment towards his parent club.
Rashford and Sancho, two Englishmen who are three years apart, are great friends, but according to Mail Online, the former is not entirely happy with the latter’s comments. They stated that Rashford “doesn’t appreciate being dragged into his former United and England team-mate’s apparent beef with the club,” citing information from his management.
Despite his regrettable departure, Rashford’s bond with his boyhood club is still very strong. He wants to maintain the respect he has with the supporters, who have supported him since his breakthrough campaign in 2015–16.
It’s intriguing that both players, whose futures at the Theatre of Dreams are still up in the air, work for the same public relations business that also represents former star Raphael Varane, Mason Mount, and the talisman Cristiano Ronaldo.
