West Ham United’s relegation from the Premier League to the Championship for the first time since 2012 has sparked widespread transfer speculation at the London Stadium, both on the incoming and outgoing sides.
The Hammers, led by Nuno Espírito Santo, are expected to win the second-tier title early in the 2026/27 season, despite just being a few days in.
The 52-year-old Portuguese has already won the Championship with Wolverhampton Wanderers, where he was part of a star-studded lineup.
It had previously been suggested that the East London club needed to generate more than £100 million before considering a slew of incomings at the London Stadium, but talk of such a fee has died down significantly since the division’s record player sale was recently confirmed, with Mateus Fernandes joining rivals Tottenham Hotspur for £85 million.
Crysencio Summerville and Jarrod Bowen are two more creative outlets who have been connected with moves away from E20, despite hopes that the latter, who is also club captain, will remain.
Summerville, meanwhile, impressed for the Netherlands in the FIFA World Cup 2026, although losing in the round of 32 to Morocco, and it is evident that the Irons’ hierarchy has been looking for prospective new players who have also competed in the tournament, with a new update appearing.
West Ham United and Derby County are considering offers for Egypt’s Emam Ashour, despite Celtic interest.

Indeed, West Ham have been prominently connected with a number of forward targets in recent days, including Stoke City’s Welsh international Sorba Thomas.
Meanwhile, TEAMtalk reports that Nuno’s men are under threat of acquiring Egypt international Emam Ashour from Al-Ahly.
According to the publication, three English clubs have been monitoring the 28-year-old’s recent progress, including divisional rivals Derby County, who are looking to continue their recent upward trajectory and showcase further ambition under John Eustace, and Premier League outfit Brighton and Hove Albion.
However, all three clubs may still miss out on the versatile performer’s signature, which is said to be available for just £4 million, with Scottish Premiership giants Celtic hoping that the lure of UEFA Champions League football under Martin O’Neill will be enough to win a bidding war.
Despite his natural position in the centre of midfield, whether deep or advanced, Ashour’s versatility and goal threat were critical to Egypt’s remarkable run to the World Cup round of 16, where they were controversially defeated by holders Argentina in Atlanta on Tuesday evening.
He, of course, scored twice in five appearances at the tournament, including the Pharaohs’ opening goal in a 1-1 draw with Belgium in Seattle on June 15th, as well as a close-range header against Australia in the round of 32, which was the nation’s first ever knockout victory in the World Cup, as they won 5-3 on penalties.
West Ham or Derby County might achieve a significant coup with Emam Ashour’s transfer deal.

In 105 appearances for his current club, Ashour has 35 goals and 25 assists, demonstrating his creative spark that could help unlock Championship defences, particularly for West Ham, who will have to adjust to teams taking a strong defensive approach at home.
Some may also be concerned by the fact that the Egyptian top-flight is not of the same calibre as the Championship, as well as the styles used by various teams in the two leagues.
However, if Ashour maintains his confidence following his exploits over the Atlantic this summer, either the Irons or Derby may net a big coup for only £4 million, giving them a significant advantage over rivals in the automatic promotion or play-off picture.
