Todd Boehly responds to Chelsea fans who want him gone and proposes Premier League rule change

According to Todd Boehly, who owns Chelsea, he is unfazed by criticism from Chelsea fans. He claims that having dissenting voices from outside the club is a natural part of owned clubs.

On Tuesday evening, supporters staged a march to Stamford Bridge, during which they demanded that BlueCo sell the club this week.

As they made their way to the stadium in anticipation of their victory over Southampton, fans carried banners and flares during their journey.

There were also chants of “we want our club back” heard as supporters expressed their emotions and made their feelings known.

In the year 2022, Boehly and his consortium purchased Chelsea from Roman Abramovich with ownership.

Since that time, the Blues have made transfers worth more than one billion pounds and have fired three different permanent managers during that span of time.

But despite all the money that has been spent, they have not yet been able to win a major trophy since they have been under new ownership.

Boehly has now provided a response to the discontent that has been expressed by certain segments of the fanbase.

On the occasion of the Business of Football summit hosted by the Financial Times, he provided the following explanation: “I just think it is par for the course.”

The sooner you realise that you are not going to be able to make everyone happy all the time, the sooner you will be able to experience freedom.

We are simply attempting to put a plan into action while acknowledging that things are not developing in a linear fashion, and we are moving in the right direction. The fact that the trend is heading in the right direction is the most important piece of information to pay attention to.

It will be three years since it has been in charge in June. That is not a lot of time, especially when you reach the age of fifty, sixty, or seventy in your life experience.

“It’s a whirlwind of activity and steep learning curve, but I think that’s also a good thing.”

While this was going on, Boehly put forward a rule change that would assist in diminishing the gap that exists between the Premier League and the Championship.

For the first time since 1998, all three promoted teams, Luton, Burnley, and Sheffield United, were immediately demoted to the lower division during the previous season.

There are currently 11 matches left, and Southampton, Leicester, and Ipswich are all currently in the drop zone. This means that they are all in danger of experiencing the same fate.

Boehly continued by saying, “The landscape of European football is somewhat disorganised, which brings to mind the competition that exists in the Retail Sports Network market in the United States.” There are a few situations that need to be resolved as soon as possible.

In football, relegation is one of the challenges that must be overcome. Pricing is difficult to do. You would have a fifteen percent chance of being demoted if everyone was on an equal footing.

However, because not everyone is the same, you will need to figure out the most effective way to deal with the valuation challenge.

Culturally speaking, relegation is not going anywhere anytime soon. Why is it that every season that a team is in the English Premier League, they obtain one share of EPL stock, and even if they are relegated, they are still able to keep that stock?

The Chelsea team, which is coached by Enzo Maresca, is currently in a strong position to finish in the top four after their victory over the Saints this week.

As they look to make their way back into the Champions League after a hiatus of two years, the Blues are currently in fifth place, one point behind Manchester City, who are in fourth place.
