The real reason why Mauricio Pochettino has left Chelsea as details of two-day crisis meeting leaked

What transpired prior to Mauricio Pochettino’s departure from Stamford Bridge after just one season in charge has now been made public.

Following the team’s sixth-place Premier League result, the club announced on Tuesday night that they would be splitting ways with Pochettino.

Following the announcement of his departure, the Argentine gave Chelsea supporters a statement that read, “Thank you to the Chelsea ownership group and Sporting Directors for the opportunity to be part of this football club’s history.”

The 52-year-old continued, “The Club is now well-positioned to keep moving forward in the Premier League and Europe in the years to come.

The news has shocked a lot of people because of Chelsea’s strong season-ending performance and Cole Palmer’s rise to become one of the league’s top players under Poch.

It looks that a report from The Telegraph provides a little more detail on how they arrived at the “mutual agreement” decision.

“No disagreements over who should be in charge of transfers or which players should or should not be sold,” the report said.

More “philosophical and related to the dynamics of working within a club structure” was the stated claim made for the issues.

The summary continued: “Nobody wanted to make a rash decision that could later be regretted so all parties agreed to sleep on day one of the meeting and reconvene on Tuesday morning.”

Pochettino and the club came to the decision that it would be better for him to leave Stamford Bridge now rather than risk a more fiery exit next season, where the club would be in a more difficult position to replace him, because nothing was changing on either side.

Pochettino seemed to be well-liked in the Chelsea locker room, and Noni Madueke was the first person to remark on Pochettino’s Instagram post.
