The Burnley FC managerial saga has taken a fresh twist, with Wales boss Craig Bellamy now reportedly involved.

Burnley are still looking for a replacement to Scott Parker, who left the club after their relegation to the Championship was confirmed.

The Clarets have been attempting to re-establish themselves in the Premier League after a five-year hiatus between the top tier and the Championship, but were unsuccessful last season.

After a fantastic season in 2024-25 in which they conceded only 16 goals, a second-tier record, there was some hope that Burnley could end their run of promotion followed by immediate relegation.

However, it immediately became evident that the squad lacked the strength to compete in the top level, and they were relegated to the Championship after only 22 points and four wins in 38 games.

This resulted in manager Parker leaving the club before the season ended, with owner Alan Pace now looking for a replacement for the promotion-winning boss.

Burnley ready to make a six-figure attempt to hire Craig Bellamy.

In recent weeks, several names have been connected to the Turf Moor position, including Steven Gerrard, Rusell Martin, and Danish coach Kasper Hjulmand.

However, it appears that none of the aforementioned managers will be taking the post, as a new report from Wales Online says Burnley are closing in on the appointment of Wales national team manager Craig Bellamy.

The 46-year-old has been in command of his native country since July 2024, and he has a 40% victory rate, with eight wins in 20 games so far.

Burnley has expressed an interest in bringing Bellamy back to Turf Moor just two years after leaving, but this time as the number one.

The Welshman was the Clarets’ second-in-command to Vincent Kompany between 2022 and 2024, and he took over the post with Wales after the Belgian left for Bayern Munich, choosing not to join him to Germany.

Parker’s exit may have prepared the way for Bellamy’s surprise return to BB10, as his previous employers are reportedly stepping up their pursuit of his services.

According to Wales Online, Bellamy’s failure to qualify for this summer’s World Cup affected him badly, giving Burnley new hope of bringing him back to Lancashire.

He won’t come cheap, though, as the Dragons are reportedly seeking approximately £700,000 in compensation from the Clarets to terminate his contract, which runs until the end of Euro 2028.

How Burnley supporters responded to the most recent Craig Bellamy update

Many Burnley fans flocked to Twitter after the latest update on Bellamy was released, with many appearing thrilled with his prospective selection as the club’s next manager.

One supporter was apprehensive about Bellamy’s selection, but thought he was a better choice than Gerrard.

Another fan expressed satisfaction with the current development, stating that they preferred a long-term project manager over a rapid cure, and Bellamy clearly fits the description.
