Terry Devlin has made his final decision on his future at Portsmouth FC, with Wrexham showing interest in his situation.

Portsmouth survived the Championship, finishing 18th in the table.

John Mousinho’s side was in a relegation battle until the closing stages of the season, but a run of victories preserved them safe heading into the final round of fixtures at the weekend.

A 1-1 draw with Birmingham City rounded out a solid, but unspectacular, second season back in the second tier.

Adrian Segecic put the hosts ahead at Fratton Park in the eighth minute, before August Priske leveled for Chris Davies’ side.

While Pompey dropped from 16th to 18th place from the previous campaign, their total points increased from 54 to 55.

The club will now focus on the summer transfer market, where they will look to upgrade their roster in order to climb the standings in the coming year.

Terry Devlin opens up on his Portsmouth future amid Wrexham links.

Terry Devlin has replied to questions about his future, after Wrexham previously expressed interest in his services.

FLW exclusively revealed late in the January window that the Red Dragons made a £2 million approach to capture him, and their failure to reach the play-offs may spark their interest again this summer.

However, the 22-year-old has dismissed any speculation about his future at Fratton Park for the time being, implying that his priority now is his family following the conclusion of the season, and that he will deal with any transfer links if and when the club receives any bids.

“Speculation comes with football, doesn’t it,” Devlin told The News.

“For anyone who does well and has a good season, there is always conjecture.

“But, for me, it’s about turning off, resting, and recovering over the summer to prepare for the next season.

“I still want to develop; I need to look at the season as a whole and see what I haven’t done well and where I can improve.

“If there is interest, that is something the club must deal with.

“I will be spending time with my family for a bit, resting and having a good summer with them.”

Devlin has underlined his passion for Portsmouth and stated that he will be part of the first-team squad when pre-season begins later this summer.

“I remember being interviewed straight after the transfer window had closed and getting across my full focus remains on Pompey – and that has never changed,” he said.

“It’s a great place, and I enjoy it here; it’s a fantastic club.

“I’m contracted here, and this is where I’ll be during the preseason.

“Obviously we have to push up the league next season, we need to get this club where it belongs, and that’s fighting at the top of the Championship.”

Devlin made 38 Championship appearances for Portsmouth this season, scoring five goals and assisting once.

Mousinho’s side lost just one of their last eight league fixtures, winning on four occasions, to seal their place in the division for another year.

Pompey defeated Oxford United and Leicester City, who, like Sheffield Wednesday, were relegated following a torturous season.

Portsmouth achieved promotion from League One in 2024 by winning the title, and they will aim to climb the Championship table and eventually compete for promotion back to the Premier League.

However, for the time being, the club’s focus will be on the summer transfer window, which opens on June 15th.

Terry Devlin will play a major role for Portsmouth next season.

To persuade Portsmouth to sell Devlin this summer, anyone will have to make a substantial bid.

Wrexham’s proposal of £2 million was insufficient in the January window, and it will take a lot more to persuade them to change their minds in the upcoming market.

The 22-year-old has thrived at Portsmouth, adjusting to life in the Championship over the last two years.

Mousinho will head into pre-season believing that the Northern Irishman will be an important part of his squad over the next year, so any sale would have to be financially viable in order to be sanctioned.
