West Midlands Police have stated that five people have been arrested as they continue to investigate the incident at Port Vale’s away end against Wolves on Friday night.
The League Two side made the short trip to Molineux for the EFL Cup fixture on Friday night, and Wanderers won comfortably 3-0 due to goals from Adam Armstrong, Andre, and Fer Lopez.
However, the second half was marred by a violent incident in the away end, which appeared to show numerous Vale fans fighting in the bottom tier of the Steve Bull Stand.

Port Vale has already acknowledged that they are investigating what happened, and WMP has given additional information with the BBC.
“Our investigation is ongoing, and we’d like to speak with anyone who witnessed what happened and can assist us with our enquiries. Scenes like this are utterly unacceptable at football matches, and we will continue to engage with clubs and the EFL to take firm action against this type of behaviour.
In addition, the report indicated that five persons were arrested as a result of the incident.
Four persons, aged 17 to 45, were arrested on suspicion of affray, and a 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of creating intentional harassment, alarm, or distress after making an indecent gesture towards a female spectator.
All five people have been released pending further investigations.
Port Vale must take action against the supporters who participated in the incident at Wolves.
It’s a shame for Port Vale that this has been the talking point since the Wolves game, but there were some positives to take away from Jon Brady’s side’s performance.

The result may appear to indicate a straightforward victory, but Vale wasted numerous opportunities, including a penalty in the second half.
Vale had nearly 2,500 supporters for the trip to Molineux, and the vast majority of them behaved well and cheered on the team from start to finish.
However, what happened reflected adversely on the club and has made national news in recent days.
With young children also appearing in the film, it is tragic that they had to witness such events, and Port Vale will be determined to demonstrate that this is not what the club is about.
Of course, as WMP and the football club have stated, they are currently investigating what happened, so criticising either would be unfair at this time.
So it will take time, but the majority of Port Vale supporters would undoubtedly hope that if it is determined that these were genuine fans who caused the trouble, they will be issued bans, as this is not behaviour that the club wishes to be associated with.
