Simon Jordan has publicly criticized Wolves manager Rob Edwards following Middlesbrough’s exit.

Wolverhampton Wanderers will be seeking to complete their remarkable escape from relegation in the Premier League under former Middlesbrough boss Rob Edwards.

Wolves had a dreadful start to the season, picking up only two points from their first ten games under former manager Vitor Pereira, which led to his dismissal in early November, and Edwards was named his replacement.

However, the move was not without controversy, given Edwards had only been in charge of Middlesbrough for 15 games after taking over at the Riverside Stadium in the summer, and his team was second in the Championship league at the time of his departure.

Edwards struggled to make an effect at Molineux, losing his first seven games, but Wolves have progressively improved under his leadership, and back-to-back home victories against Aston Villa and Liverpool have given them an outside chance of survival despite the odds.

Wolves are still 11 points from safety with only eight games left, and they have played one more game than the clubs above them, but they do have a favorable fixture schedule in the remaining weeks of the season, which includes West Ham United, Leeds United, Tottenham Hotspur, Sunderland, and Burnley.

Simon Jordan dismisses Rob Edwards, Wolves relegation claim after Middlesbrough exit.

After Wolves’ dramatic late win over Liverpool on Tuesday night, former Crystal Palace owner and pundit Simon Jordan said it would be an incredible achievement if they could stay up, but he admitted he would like to see Edwards relegated after walking out on Middlesbrough earlier this season.

Jordan stated on talkSPORT that he is open to being proven incorrect about Edwards’ decision to switch teams.Do I believe he was a treacherous hound? “Yes, I do.””Do I believe that has changed? No.””I want him to go down, not the football club.””I want him to face the consequences of his disloyalty.”Unfortunately, that is the casualty, but the football club was already going down before he arrived.”Jordan maintained that his main concern with Rob Edwards was his lack of loyalty to those who provided him with opportunities.Should he have gone in and done better? Of course, he should have gone in and done a good job.

Middlesbrough and Wolves both benefited from the controversial Rob Edwards scenario.

Middlesbrough fans were understandably outraged when Edwards departed the club just months into his stint, and it’s fair to say Wolves fans were underwhelmed by his appointment, but they may currently be quite satisfied with their managerial circumstances.

Boro’s automatic promotion hopes could have been dashed by Edwards’ departure, but they have arguably improved under his successor Kim Hellberg, and despite recent pressure from Ipswich Town and Millwall, they remain in second place as the season comes to a close.

While talk of a potential great escape is gaining traction at Molineux, Edwards will almost certainly be unable to keep Wolves in the Premier League, but he has certainly steadied the ship, and current performances will help to boost confidence and belief ahead of their return to the Championship next season.
