On Saturday, Sheffield Wednesday saw a fresh dawn when David Storch’s Arise group completed their takeover, bringing an end to six months of administration.
However, despite the fact that talks between the US consortium and the EFL concerning the takeover were fast progressing, Wednesday’s outlook remained dismal.
The Owls had already been demoted to League One and were concerned about starting next season with a 15-point deduction for failing to satisfy the insolvency orders, but the club was relieved to learn that the EFL had waived the deduction ahead of their last day clash with West Brom.
Sheffield Wednesday’s budget will remain tight for the next few seasons, but they will be able to sign players ahead of the new season, allowing them to be competitive next season as they aim to return to the Championship.
Sheffield Wednesday are looking into a permanent Jaden Heskey signing.

According to Joe Crann of The Wednesday World, Henrik Pedersen would like to sign Manchester City loanee Jaden Heskey on a permanent basis this summer.
The 20-year-old was one of five loan signings authorized by Wednesday in January, as the club sought to be as competitive as possible heading into the second half of the Championship season.
Heskey appeared in all but one game for Hillsborough, and 19 of his 20 Championship outings came from the start.
According to the story, the midfielder is still under contract with Manchester City, where he captained the club’s elite youth group before departing for some much-needed senior action midway through the season.
As a result, it may be difficult for the Owls to strike a deal for one of the most exciting prospects not already on Pep Guardiola’s roster. Wednesday are allegedly hoping that the positive impression they made on Heskey during his time at Hillsborough will encourage him to join them permanently in their quest to move out of League One.
Wednesday has previously avoided paying large transfer fees by including certain clauses and add-ons for the future, so perhaps this is the way for the Owls to persuade Manchester City to agree to a deal, especially since the third-tier side is expected to face financial constraints this summer.
Sheffield Wednesday would make a statement of determination by signing Jaden Heskey on a permanent basis ahead of their return to League One.

With Sheffield Wednesday starting with zero points next season, there will be every expectation that a strong transfer window will see them near the top of League One, possibly a few years before many thought their trek back up the EFL would fully begin.
Bringing in Heskey, who has gained a lot of Championship admirers over the last year due to his successes and leadership in one of the best academies in the country at Manchester City, would be a strategic move in their efforts to return to the second tier as quickly as possible.
The 20-year-old has had a difficult second half of the season, as have many of the inexperienced young players who have been thrown into the deep end at Hillsborough.
Despite this, the City loanee has shown a lot of promise and ability, and he may easily become one of the top third-tier midfielders practically instantly next season.
So Wednesday will be hoping that they’ve done enough in recent months to persuade him to join League One permanently. The support will have helped, especially on the final day in front of a season-high audience in the Championship, as will regular gametime exposure.
He’ll get that and more if he makes a permanent move to Hillsborough, with the possibility of a promotion on his resume in the coming years. Perhaps that is something Heskey cannot pass up.
