Roy Keane brutally responds to James Maddison aiming dig at him with celebration

Roy Keane has responded to James Maddison following his dedication of a celebration to him during the match against Manchester United.

In an episode of Stick to Football, the former United captain delivered a severe criticism of Maddison, questioning his ability to make a difference and dismissing his influence when it matters.

Keane characterised the England international as a “good, talented player,” but he asserted that anyone who believes Maddison can return and propel Spurs into the top six is living in “cuckoo land.”

Maddison, who had been sidelined due to a calf injury, returned to the field and scored the game-winning goal against United. He celebrated with his customary darts and added a shush gesture, which he later disclosed was intended for Keane.

Maddison acknowledged that there was “a small amount of external noise this week” and expressed his optimism that “a select few individuals will derive pleasure from my role as the match-winner today.”

He subsequently shared a viral TikTok video that was directed at Keane. The Overlap has since teased Keane’s response on social media.

Keane responded, “Well done,” when asked by Gary Neville. Without a doubt. There is no issue. I continue to adhere to my previous statement; I believe that he does not sufficiently implement it. However, I was at home with my cup of tea when he scored, and I said, “Well done.”

“People have a go at you, you answer them back.”

“I was hoping he was going to do the same the other day but he was sub against Ipswich.”

The panel was left in a state of hysteria when Neville addressed Maddison and informed him that his long-time teammate is “now monitoring your every move.”

Afterward, Keane imitated Maddison’s dart-throwing antics to garner additional laughter. Ian Wright intervened, stating, “You cannot defeat James…” “Just do your job, James, because you are unable to win!”

Maddison’s remarks regarding Keane’s criticism
Maddison, who is known for his honesty and intelligence, disclosed that Ange Postecoglou instructs him and his teammates to disregard any media commentary.

Nevertheless, he acknowledged that it is a difficult endeavour, especially when an individual of Keane’s calibre is offering criticism.

“The gaffer consistently emphasises the importance of mitigating external noise; however, it is occasionally challenging to implement,” he disclosed to Patrick Davison of Sky Sports.

“It is perpetually in your face.” You are permitted to utilise it; however, I believe that Gaffer prefers to have you remain in our private space and listen to him.

“Sometimes it’s difficult, it’s constantly in your face these days – social media and WhatsApp with people sending you stuff and you do see it – especially when it’s a big high-profile name.”

Maddison was appointed as the captain of Tottenham for their forthcoming match against Manchester City, whom they have already defeated twice this season.
