Rashford signs, Watkins deal – Unai Emery’s dream Aston Villa attack after transfer window shuts

Marcus Rashford of Manchester United is at the top of Unai Emery’s list of players he wants to add to his Aston Villa team before the January transfer market closes on Monday night.

If Unai Emery can acquire Marcus Rashford, he may assemble one of Aston Villa’s most formidable frontlines ever. After declaring that he’s “ready for a new challenge,” the 27-year-old forward has been strongly linked to leaving Manchester United this month.

Villa appears to be on track to acquire Rashford despite intense competition from some of the top teams in Europe. Emery’s team is reportedly nearing an agreement to recruit the England international on loan, according to BirminghamLive.

Negotiations between the two teams are rumoured to have advanced significantly in the past day, with Rashford willing to exchange Old Trafford for Villa Park. Before Villa can welcome the United star to Bodymoor Heath, the last few formalities must be worked out, but it is anticipated that they will pay a significant portion of his salary in addition to bonuses.

Earlier in the January transfer window, it was believed that Rashford would have wanted to join Barcelona; however, the Catalan powerhouses have acknowledged defeat because of their financial predicament. BirminghamLive has therefore examined how Villa may line up with Rashford in claret and blue.

Rashford was brought in at the last minute.
Emery need to start Rashford right away if Villa can reach an agreement, even if it’s just for an hour or so. The Spaniard must unleash the world-class talent of the United ace.

Rashford’s confidence might be greatly boosted by a daring gesture, and his teammates are more than capable of carrying the pressure, so it won’t be like he’ll be carrying the entire weight.

Rogers maintains his position at the side.
Morgan Naturally, Roger ought to remain in the starting lineup. With six goals and four assists in 22 Premier League games this season, the 22-year-old midfielder has been outstanding for Villa.

Rashford could hug the touchline and make sharp runs in behind since he prefers to play in the inside-left channel. The United star may open up more space for Rogers to drive into in addition to stretching the opposition’s defence and giving Villa a stronger counterattacking threat.

Malen is given an opportunity to shine.
Donyell Despite only recently joining Villa, Malen will provide Leon Bailey with fierce competition on the right. The former winger for Borussia Dortmund was outstanding last season, but he has struggled this season in the Bundesliga.

Malen participated in 27 German top-flight games during the 2023–24 season, scoring 13 goals and dishing out three assists. If the Netherlands international can establish himself in the Premier League, he may be a formidable opponent.

Watkins is a graceful leader of the queue.
It goes without saying that Villa’s front line should be led by Ollie Watkins. Emery obviously wants to keep his lucky charm, even though the 29-year-old striker has been strongly linked to a move to Arsenal recently.

The Spaniard responded, “Yes, he is happy to stay,” when asked about Watkins’ future prior to Villa’s match against Wolves. “He told us he was happy here when we asked how he was feeling. Watkins’s dedication to defending Aston Villa is truly immense.

“He is grateful for Aston Villa’s unwavering support and assistance. Additionally, we constantly attempted to outdo him when we first joined two years ago.

Maybe Villa should offer Watkins a new, long-term contract as a thank you for his loyalty?

Donyell Malen (right wing), Morgan Rogers (attacking midfield), Marcus Rashford (left wing), and Ollie Watkins (striker) are Villa’s ideal frontline when the January transfer window closes on Monday night.
