Graham Alexander has made coaching staff changes,
announcing the departure of first-team coaches Peter Murphy and Andy Liddell from Preston North End.

Graham Alexander was appointed manager of Preston on September 28, and, other from recruiting long-term assistant Chris Lucketti from Bradford City, he chose to leave the coaching staff inherited from Paul Heckingbottom in place.
However, after three defeats in his first three games in charge, the first changes to his coaching staff were made, with Murphy and Liddell departing Deepdale.
Murphy joined Preston as a first-team coach in 2023, and Liddell was named first-team fitness coach in 2025.
The club announced in a statement: “Preston North End can confirm that the club has parted ways with first-team coaches Peter Murphy and Andy Liddell.
“We thank Peter and Andy for their service to the football club and wish them all the very best for the future.”
There has been no indication yet on who will replace them on Alexander’s coaching staff.
First-team coach Jason Euell, who took command of the team for the draw at QPR prior to Alexander’s arrival, and goalie coach Mike Pollitt are still with the club.
What Graham Alexander has stated about his PNE coaching staff:
When asked by The Post if he intended to bring in his own coaching staff during his first press conference as manager, Alexander stated that everyone at the club had the opportunity to demonstrate their commitment to his mission.
“When we’ve gone into different clubs, we’ve always inherited staff, and we’re still really close friends with some from the past,” he stated.
“There is some change over time. Employees may later work for us at other clubs.I’m not one of those men who dismisses people simply because we don’t know them. I encourage athletes and staff to express their preferences and vision for their everyday job. After initial discussions with Chris,
I was given the freedom to make decisions with the club’s backing in the future. If you look at the history of other teams that I’ve taken over, there are people who are still there, including people who ran the club for considerable periods of time, and they’re still there and have worked with me in the past.”
He went on: “So, we’ll evaluate everything. It is our responsibility to do everything we can to restore this club’s winning record. “It is our responsibility to make clear decisions.”I’ve never shied away from making judgements that interest me, and I’ll do the same here. That’s the way it is, and I told the staff the same thing yesterday.
The Post then questioned Alexander the following week if any measures had been taken to increase his staff, to which he replied, “No, I haven’t.
“It’s the same story with the staff [as with the players, a fresh start]. We discussed their style of play, both in and out of possession.
“I don’t want to use the word educating since they’re certified coaches, but they need to comprehend what’s happening on my end. This is how Chris and I previously worked together.
“But trying to cram everything in the first week or two days is impossible; it will be information overload.” It’ll just pass through. This is just noise.
“I’ve been really pleased with how they’ve bought in to what we’re trying to.”
