Reports from Spain indicate that Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has separated from his partner of 30 years, Cristina Serra, however the couple still maintains amicable relations.
Pep Guardiola has allegedly separated from his wife after three decades of marriage.
The Manchester City manager has focused on improving the performance of the reigning English champions, although it seems he has parted ways with his long-term companion, Cristina Serra, off the pitch.
The Sunday Mirror claimed in 2019 that Serra had returned to Barcelona with one of their three children, and over five years later, the couple has now separated, according to sources from Spain.
Notwithstanding the separation, Guardiola and Serra are reportedly on amicable terms. They were allegedly observed together at Christmas attending the theatre with one of their daughters.
The couple encountered each other in 1994 while Guardiola was a player for Barcelona, but they did not wed until 2014 in a private ceremony. They have three offspring: daughters Maria and Valentina, and son Marius.
Since Serra’s return to Barcelona in 2019, the couple has primarily resided separately, with Guardiola staying in Manchester while his wife alternated between Spain and the UK. However, they were frequently observed together on multiple times.
The announcement occurs during a resurgence in form for City, who have secured victories in their past three matches across all competitions following a dismal stretch that extinguished their aspirations of defending their crown.
However, it appears they will be without club captain Kyle Walker for the latter half of the season, as he has indicated his intention to depart from the Etihad. Both AC Milan and Inter Milan are reportedly interested, and he has also been associated with a lucrative transfer to Saudi Arabia.
Regarding the potential participation of the England right-back with City, Guardiola stated: “I don’t know.” The outcome is contingent upon our training methodology. It is contingent upon him.
The circumstances have changed, yet the transfer window will conclude at its designated time, and I am uncertain about the outcome.
I informed Kyle that the matter now pertains to the market. He is an exceptional player, possessing remarkable physicality, and when concentrated, he is unassailable as a right-back.
“He is an elite player.” If he is in good health, he can compete as a professional for one, two, three, or four further years. I have never encountered a player with such physical attributes in my career.
“Should he wish to pursue a transfer, the club will investigate options, and the decision rests with him, not me.” This decision is not mine to make. However, he must secure an agreement with the club.
