Middlesbrough Drop Major Boost as Kim Hellberg Issues Fresh Update on Will Lankshear.

Kim Hellberg has allayed concerns over Middlesbrough star striker Will Lankshear’s potential injury.

The forward, who joined the Teesside club from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer, has had an immediate impact in the early stages of the new Championship season.

The 21-year-old scored the team’s 12th and 13th goals of the season in a 3-0 win over Charlton Athletic last weekend.

However, he was substituted in the closing stages and was seen limping off the pitch, raising concerns among supporters that he might be absent due to injury.

Lankshear joined from Spurs for a total of £20 million, with the club expecting he would assist the team earn promotion to the Premier League.

Hellberg’s side lost the play-off final in May, but their strong performance in the first 13 rounds of this season has put them in contention for a top-two finish.

Speaking ahead of Middlesbrough’s forthcoming match at Wrexham, Hellberg informed fans that Lankshear’s withdrawal was due to a cramp.

According to writer Dom Shaw, the Borough manager acknowledged that the forward was taken off with the problem and will be available again midweek.

However, Rokas Pukstas will be out for at least another month, with no set timetable for his potential return to fitness.

The midfielder joined the Riverside in the summer from Hajduk Split, however he has only appeared once in the Championship.

He came in as a substitute in September’s 1-0 win over QPR, but has been sidelined since October with a hamstring injury sustained in training.

Alfie Jones is the only other player absent, as he is currently recovering from a calf injury.

Middlesbrough’s start to the season

Middlesbrough currently leads the Championship standings after 13 games, with 28 points.

Hellberg’s side is two points ahead of Swansea City in second position, and another two ahead of Wolves in third, as they aim for a top-two finish in the league.

Borough have only lost once and are unbeaten since their 2-1 setback to Blackburn Rovers on August 22, going 11 games without a loss.

Middlesbrough’s next match is against Wrexham on Wednesday evening, with a 7.45pm kickoff.

Middlesbrough is relieved about Will Lankshear’s predicament. He has been a standout player this season, and his recent brace highlights his value to the club.

Because of his recent form, fans will be especially vigilant for any symptoms of an injury.

It’s a good sign for Wednesday night that he should be fit and ready to go, but it’s clear that he can’t exactly manage 90 minutes every game.

It’s not surprising that he’ll only play a portion of this match against the Red Dragons, but having him in from the start will be a relief for fans.
