As a result of his outstanding performance in the FA Youth Cup, Max Dowman has already provided Arsenal supporters with a glimpse of the future.
At the Emirates Stadium, the Gunners were defeated by Manchester United by a score of 3-2 in the quarterfinals. Despite the fact that the 15-year-old stole the show, the Gunners were ultimately unsuccessful.
During the first half, Dowman absolutely blew everyone away with his passing and vision, and he went on to win a penalty penalty after the break.
While the midfielder was inside his own half, he picked up the ball and proceeded to skip past a United player who was attempting to challenge him.
After entering the territory of the opposing team, Dowman made a hard drive down the right side of the pitch and into the penalty area of United.
Following the completion of a defender’s inside out turn, he was brought down, and the referee indicated that he should be awarded a penalty.
Dowman himself made a strong effort to convert a shot from 12 yards out, putting the home team in the lead.
His performance left Arsenal’s rivals in awe of the talented youngster, who appears to be on track to follow in the footsteps of academy graduates Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly and make his debut with the first team in the upcoming season.
On social media, a supporter of the Red Devils expressed their reaction to his performance by writing, “We need to go three for three and take Max Dowman from Arsenal.”
An additional supporter of United stated, “We need to sign him.”
A third supporter made the following observation at the same time: “Would probably walk into our first-team at the moment.”
In the summer of 2017, Dowman was elevated to the under-18s despite the fact that he was only 14 years old.
As of this moment, he has made sixteen appearances for Adam Birchall’s team, during which he has scored six goals and provided seven assists.
While this was going on, he made history by becoming the youngest player to ever play for the under-21 team in December.
The fact that Dowman has scored three goals for England’s under-17 team despite the fact that he will not turn 16 until December is another accomplishment.
Even though he has already been training with Mikel Arteta’s first team, he will not be making his debut in the Premier League until later.
Because of a rule that prohibits players from appearing if they are younger than the age group of under-16, the teenager will not be able to participate in this season’s games.
Due to the fact that Dowman was born in 2009, he will not be entering that age group until this following summer.
It is unfortunate for the Gunners that his heroic performance on Friday was not sufficient to secure a spot in the semi-finals of the FA Youth Cup.
In the final five minutes of the match, United equalised the score through Jaydan Kamason. However, Bendito Mantato scored the game-winning goal just before the end of extra time.
After this, the Red Devils will travel to either Aston Villa or Plymouth in the final four matches of the season.
On April 5, Watford will play host to Manchester City in the other semi-final match. Both matches are scheduled to take place.
