February 10th: Dion Dublin’s Outstanding Reaction to a Fan’s Interrupting The BBC Football on Broadcast never sleeps. Somewhere in the world, someone is engaged in some aspect of the beautiful game during each of the 86400 seconds that make up a 24-hour day. This might be anything from booting a ball against a wall with friends to sharing their expert analysis on social media or winning a high-profile match at the last minute.

Since no human can possibly keep up with everything that happens during a game, football is often made great by the small but fascinating moments, such as a fan’s alternate perspective on a penalty save, a three-second but incredibly telling exchange between two bitter rivals, or a thread on X that explains why N’Golo Kante is the nicest man in professional sports.

1st March: Chido Obi Fires Shots at Arsenal After FA Youth Cup Win

His current employers triumphed in a five-goal thriller

Fans are chatting on the internet about Manchester United forward Chido Obi’s crude jab at his old team, Arsenal. He re-posted Arsenal’s statement of their early exit on his Instagram profile after his current employers’ Under-18 team defeated the Gunners 3-2 in the FA Youth Cup quarterfinal on Friday night.

To celebrate his goal and the victory on away ground, Jaydan Kamason, who scored the Red Devils’ second goal in the thrilling five-goal match, also shared a picture on Instagram. Chido Obi, who recently earned his first team debut under Ruben Amorim, responded by posting a message that read, “THANK YOU SO MUCH,” along with many laughing emojis.

After his contract expired, the 17-year-old Dane, who is renowned for scoring a tonne of goals at the youth level, moved from north London to Manchester in the summer, and it appears that he has the final say.

One admirer responded to his remark by saying, “Bro’s got no chill.” However, after the Dutchman performed the identical manoeuvre in the past, another implied that he is a Robin van Persie regen. “He is in his Van Persie era.” “The amount of abuse he got from Arsenal fans I’m happy for him,” a third fan commented.

28th February: Garnacho to Pay for Dinner After Substitution Reaction

Amorim: ‘I told him that, at Manchester United, everything is important’

Ruben Amorim has now disclosed that Alejandro Garnacho, 20, has volunteered to buy his teammates supper as an expression of apology after his response to being substituted during Manchester United’s 3-2 victory over Ipswich Town received a lot of attention.

The 40-year-old tactician gave the following explanation of Garnacho’s behaviour prior to their FA Cup match: “He came to me, to my office.” I looked into it. After watching the game in the dressing room, Garnacho left for home.

Although it is not a problem there, I informed him that everything matters at Manchester United. Perception is key at this club. He will cover the cost of the team’s dinner. That’s it.

The Argentine, who is considered one of the best young players in world football, will be eligible for selection ahead of the Red Devils’ match against Fulham. He was sent off before the halftime break after Patrick Dorgu’s dismissal.

26th February: Didier Drogba Defends Jose Mourinho

Chelsea legend posts passionate tweet in defence of his former manager

After Galatasaray accused the current Fenerbahce head coach of making racial statements following Monday’s 0-0 draw between the Turkish powerhouses, Didier Drogba wrote a passionate tweet in support of his former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho.

After playing for Galatasaray for a season, Drogba wrote: “Dear GalatasaraySK. I love the most decorated club in Turkey, and you know how delighted I was to wear the yellow and red shirt! I’ve had the good fortune to witness firsthand how intense and intense rivalry can be.

“I’ve seen the most recent remarks on Jose Mourinho. Believe me when I say that I have known Jose for xx years and that his history, both recent and historical, demonstrates that he is not a racist. To get close to our five, let’s concentrate on our games, cheer for our outstanding lions, and win the league. My ‘Dad’ is a racist, but how? Guys, hurry up.”

24th February: Neymar Silences Booing Fans With ‘Olimpico’

The Brazilian continues to shine for Santos

Neymar’s outstanding performance for Santos against Inter de Limeira shown that he still has it. The 33-year-old scored and contributed two assists on Sunday night, continuing his strong start to life back at the club. He scored straight off a corner in the 27th minute, and it was absolute perfection.

As the Brazilian walked to the corner to take the set-piece, the home crowd jeered him. Then, as his corner went into the back of the net, Neymar went on to deceive the opposition’s goalie. As he celebrated his moment of genius, he made sure to turn around to face the supporters who had been jeering at him.

In his first six games back at Santos, Neymar has now scored two goals and provided three assists. Although there were concerns that Neymar was past his prime, he is still displaying his class in his native country.

23rd February: Luka Modric Rolls Back the Years With Amazing Volley

The Croatian legend left Real Madrid teammate Jude Bellingham stunned

In Real Madrid’s La Liga match against Girona, Luka Modric scored what may have been the season’s best goal with a 25-yard rocket. After Rodrygo’s corner was headed away, the 39-year-old jumped to the edge of the box, took it to his chest, let it bounce and then fired past Paulo Gazzaniga, the former Tottenham custodian.

Modric, who continues to demonstrate that age is only a number and a crucial objective as Madrid pursues Barcelona for the La Liga title, displayed pure class in that moment. Jude Bellingham, who was suspended and sat in the spectators, was enthralled by the Croat’s 43 goals while wearing Los Blancos’ colours. ‘WOW WHAT A GOAL’, ‘Absolute genius’, and ‘Age is just a number when you have class like that!’ were among the admiring remarks made by fans on the internet.

23rd February: Erling Haaland’s Subtle Dig to Myles Lewis-Skelly

The Manchester City striker’s social media activity was spotted after Arsenal’s defeat to West Ham

Following their potentially title-ending loss to West Ham on Saturday, Manchester City striker Erling Haaland seemed to poke fun at Arsenal and their young prodigy Myles Lewis-Skelly. Lewis-Skelly, a young player, was sent off late in the game, and Jarrod Bowen scored the game’s lone goal at the Emirates.

West Ham supporters appeared to mock Lewis-Skelly’s dismissal by mimicking Haaland’s celebration in a clip that went viral after the game. The teenager had done the same thing after scoring against Manchester City during the Gunners’ most recent matchup with the Premier League winners. According to reports, he made this decision in response to an altercation with the Norwegian during the rematch, during which Haaland questioned the young full-back about his identity.

The former Borussia Dortmund player, who obviously saw the post on social media, seemed to get the final laugh after seeing the image of the Hammers fans striking his signature posture.

22nd February: David Raya Displays Extraordinary Speed vs West Ham

The Spanish goalkeeper left everyone in his wake

https://www.reddit.com/?utm_source=embedv2&utm_medium=post_embed&utm_content=header&embed_host_url=https://www.givemesport.com/today-in-football-things-you-may-have-missed/

Arsenal lost to West Ham United at home in a poor match as Mikel Arteta’s team was unable to exert any pressure on league leaders Liverpool. The visitors deserved the three points despite the Gunners’ lacklustre performance and limited attacking options.

Supporters had little to celebrate when Myles Lewis-Skelly received his second red card of the season and there were no goals to cheer. They learnt how fast David Raya is, which is the only thing they can take away from the Emirates.

As West Ham cleared their lines, the goalie had to run back after going up for an attacking corner in the last seconds. Admittedly not the fastest player in the world, James Ward-Prowse appeared to be the first to the ball but gave up his considerable advantage to the speedy Raya. Based on this data, he might compete with some of Arsenal’s wide players.

22nd February: Cristiano Ronaldo Loses His Head

Legendary forward fumes after Jhon Duran red card

On social media, football fans have criticised Cristiano Ronaldo for his response to Al-Nassr teammate Jhon Duran’s 92nd-minute red card on Friday. The legendary Portuguese forward was seen on camera smashing the ball away while it was on the centre circle and then angrily arguing with the match officials. One fan wrote on X (Twitter): “40 years of age!” Another commented: “How is that not a red for him?” A fourth said: “Absolute man child,” and a fourth asked: “How’s he got away with that?” Ronaldo was unable to stop Al-Nassr from losing 3-2 to Al-Ettifaq.

20th February: Reporter Asks Man City “What Happened?” and Responses Go Viral

One supporter: ‘We’re f****** w***, that’s what happened mate’

Manchester City supporters fled in large numbers in the 62nd minute, with Real Madrid leading 2-0. Their answers to the question, “What happened inside?” have gone viral. While some provided moving responses, others chose to dismiss the reporter outright.

One, infuriated by the reporter’s apparent hubris, remarked: “You really know the score, don’t you? Why would you insult me like that?

Another fan provided a measured response since they were a little calmer, more collected, and colder. “We’re not having a good season, right?” he asked. That’s all. We have a weak defence and Real Madrid has a top-tier front three. That’s what you anticipate, then.

A third fan responded with far more profanity, accusing Pep Guardiola of making poor decisions. They even went so far as to imply that the native Catalan is no longer capable of leading the four-time champions to victory.

Mate, that’s what occurred, and we’re f****** w***. We’re terrible. Is this a recording? Pep Guardiola needs to f*** off, I’ll tell you that!

“We arrived in the incorrect formation. One remarked, “He’s prioritised Liverpool over this!” as they emphasised how Guardiola rested players like Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland in front of their Premier League matchup with Liverpool this weekend.

19th February: Darwin Nunez Misses Open-Goal Chance in Premier League

His effort elicited cheers from the Aston Villa fans

Darwin Nunez had a gilt-edged chance to give his team the lead in the 68th minute with Liverpool’s Premier League match against Aston Villa tied at 2-2, but he missed the goal entirely. The travelling Reds fans let out a collective groan as they tried to figure out how he missed the mark.

Since joining from Benfica in the summer of 2022, the Uruguayan has been inconsistent, and the Anfield supporters are growing more and more irritated with him because his lack of skill in front of goal and his most recent blunder won’t help him regain the fans’ admiration.

An eager Nunez was making a far-post move to try to get away from Axel Disasi’s pressure when Dominik Szboszlai bared down on goal, but he scuppered his opportunity on the brink of the six-yard box. To the relief of the home crowd, the striker’s left-footed attempt missed the bar despite the goal being gaping.

19th February: Thierry Henry Pulls Up Michael Olise in Interview

Funny clip goes viral on social media

During a live interview on CBS Sports on Tuesday night, Michael Olise referred to him as “Titi” instead of “coach,” and Thierry Henry couldn’t help but bring him up. After Bayern advanced to the Champions League Round of 16 after a 1-1 draw against Celtic, Olise, who was managed by Henry during his time playing for France at the 2024 Olympics, was speaking.

Olise responded, “It was a big – definitely took some time to adapt,” when Micah Richards asked him how he found the transition from Crystal Palace to Bayern Munich. I talked to Titi a lot, and he gave me some advice as I was transitioning. “So it’s ‘Titi’ now, not coach?” Henry’s response caused Olise to quickly backtrack. (Watch the above video at 45 seconds to see the entire amusing clip).

18th February: Atalanta Captain Rafael Toloi Picks Up Embarrassing Red Card

The defender made a fool of himself as last season’s Europa League winners crashed out of Europe

The skipper was sent off when Rafael Toloi lost all composure in the final seconds of Atalanta’s Champions League play-off loss to Club Brugge. The defender’s displeasure erupted following a heated discussion in the 87th minute of the game, when tensions were running high.

Toloi lost it when Maxim de Cuyper blocked a throw-in, trying to break the rhythm of the game. He attempted to throw the ball at De Cuyper in a fit of wrath, but he slipped and lost his footing. Determining to confront him, Toloi ran after De Cuyper, and authorities had to intervene to keep things from getting worse.

De Cuyper was shown yellow for his deft gamesmanship that incited Toloi’s ire, but he ultimately received a straight red card for his outburst. Following a 2-1 loss in the first leg, Atalanta lost to Club Brugge 5-2 on aggregate, resulting in their elimination from the Champions League.

17th February: Wigan Youngster Drops Brutal Celebration After First Goal At Everton’s New Stadium

Everton’s Under 18s were involved in a friendly against Wigan at Bramley-Moore Docks stadium

Since the first goal was scored in the Bramley-Moore Docks stadium, Everton has been the target of vicious trolling. The Toffees will bid a tearful farewell to the legendary Goodison Park when they move into their new home for the 2025–2026 campaign. Their future stadium will be used for club-related activities in the interim, and the under-18 team will play there several times.

On Monday night, the youth squad played a friendly match against Wigan Athletic, drawing thousands of Everton supporters to the stadium to watch the team’s first match on the pitch. However, the hosts didn’t have the best start. Harrison Rimmer, a teenage midfielder, scored a clean finish to put Athletic ahead 1-0 within the first quarter of an hour.

The young player then went on to make fun of the Everton supporters by holding up the number six, which is a reference to the amount of European Cups Everton’s bitter rivals, Liverpool, had won overall.

16th February: Hulk Scores Insane Free-Kick

The 38-year-old Brazilian clearly hasn’t lost it

https://twitter.com/eurofootcom/status/1890892850495205636?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1890892850495205636%7Ctwgr%5E021ad98f6e8b825ffebb08f8a52e06c8e389b19c%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.givemesport.com%2Ftoday-in-football-things-you-may-have-missed%2F

Hulk, a Brazilian forward known for his incredible shooting ability, has scored a goal that is already a strong candidate to be the finest free-kick of 2025. Throughout his career, the former FC Porto player, who turns 39 in July, has demonstrated that he can score from set pieces almost anywhere in the opposition’s half.

In Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Tombense, Hulk scored both of Atletico Mineiro’s goals, but it was his second goal that went viral on social media, and rightfully so. Hulk advances about 35 to 40 yards from goal and uses his hammer-like left foot to deliver an incredible curling effort that gives goalie Matheus Aurelio no chance at all. You never lose it.

15th February: Van Nistelrooy and Keown Recall ‘Battle of Old Trafford’

‘It was a good rivalry, wasn’t it?’

Before the former striker’s match against Arsenal in the Premier League, Leicester City manager Ruud van Nistelrooy and Martin Keown, his main opponent from the “Battle of Old Trafford,” got together to clear the air. Oxford-born Keown shook Van Nistelrooy’s hand and said, “What happens on the pitch stays on the pitch,” before joking with Joe Cole that he’s happy that he can see Keown, saying, “I’m happy that I have him in front of me, not at the back of me. It was a good rivalry, wasn’t it?” Most famously, the two clashed in September 2003, with Keown celebrating by screaming in Van Nistelrooy’s face after the Dutchman missed from 12 yards out. At the final whistle of one of the most intense meetings in Premier League history, the English defender leaped behind the striker and slammed his arms down.

14th February: Everton Fire Back at Liverpool Captain Virgil van Dijk

The centre-back had branded the Merseyside derby their ‘cup final’

At Goodison Park, the final Merseyside derby had all the elements of a legendary Premier League match. The home team stole a point in the last seconds of Everton and Liverpool’s thrilling and dramatic 2-2 tie.

Following the game, Michael Oliver showed four red cards, and Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk made fun of the Toffees by saying to TNT Sports: “We all know this is their cup final.” Everton has now responded to the defender on social media. “Six more ‘finals’ left at Goodison,” the Toffees wrote on X (previously Twitter), along with a winking emoji, as they looked ahead to their final six games at their home field. They certainly knew what they were doing.

13th February: Carragher and Henry’s Reactions to Everton’s Equaliser v Liverpool

Carragher wasn’t best pleased

There were incredible scenes at Goodison Park on Wednesday night when James Tarkowski scored with what was essentially the final kick of the game to give Everton a point against bitter rivals Liverpool. Jamie Carragher, who was watching the game as a CBS Sports pundit, was not pleased to see his beloved Liverpool pulled back in such a dramatic way, and Thierry Henry would have been happy to see the goal go in with former team Arsenal facing Liverpool for the title. To make matters worse for Carragher, one of CBS’ production assistants, who is a huge Evertonian, grabbed him.

12th February: Brilliant footage captured Kylian Mbappe’s wild reaction to Bellingham’s late winner v Man City

The Frenchman couldn’t control his emotions as Los Blancos found victory

Kylian Mbappe’s joyous response to Jude Bellingham’s stoppage-time winner against Manchester City should allay any remaining concerns about how well he will fit in at Real Madrid. At the Etihad Stadium, Carlo Ancelotti’s team overcame two deficits to win a spirited 3-2 victory, putting them in a strong position to go to the Champions League round of 16.

Mbappe, who had been substituted earlier in the evening after scoring Los Blancos’ first goal, was spotted running down the dugout and onto the field to rejoice with his teammates after Bellingham hit the net late in the game. The 26-year-old was unable to control his feelings!

10th February: Dion Dublin’s Brilliant Repsonse to Fan Interrupting BBC Broadcast

‘I’ll take him outside in a minute’

https://twitter.com/FBAwayDays/status/1888658580292702453?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1888658580292702453%7Ctwgr%5E021ad98f6e8b825ffebb08f8a52e06c8e389b19c%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.givemesport.com%2Ftoday-in-football-things-you-may-have-missed%2F
When asked by Mark Chapman to lead the fans through Jacob Ramsey’s early opener, former striker-turned-pundit Dion Dublin responded, “I’ll take him outside in a minute.” This caused the rest of the panel to laugh. Marcus Rashford made his debut as Aston Villa defeated Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 after Morgan Rogers and Mathys Tel scored in the second half. While Jermain Defoe, Joe Hart, and Dublin were trying to analyse Tottenham’s poor performance, the supporter in question was hammering the studio window while Dublin and Jermain Defoe were trying to analyse the team’s poor performance.
