Manchester United open talks with rival boss in shock move while Erik ten Hag is still manager

A recent report suggests that Manchester United has initiated negotiations with a rival manager for the top position at Old Trafford, amidst ongoing speculation regarding the future of manager Erik ten Hag.

With ten games remaining, Manchester United is currently eight points outside of the Champions League spots in sixth place in the Premier League, enduring yet another difficult season.

Ten Hag is under increasing pressure as a result of the team’s inability to improve upon its third-place result from the previous season, as new minority shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his Ineos team are reviewing the football department’s operations.

The media has suggested Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi as a possible replacement, along with England manager Gareth Southgate and Brentford chief Thomas Frank.

The Seagulls coach is also the topic of the most recent conversation in Spain, according to outlet Nacional, which asserts that the Red Devils are “negotiating” with the Italian coach and that he is “the name they have in mind” to lead the team as its new manager.

In an effort to replace departing player Xavi Hernandez, the report also states that Barcelona is another team considering a move for De Zerbi.

With Brighton ranked eighth in the Premier League this year, De Zerbi is under contract there through 2026.
