Kwame Poku has delivered a brutally honest update on his situation at QPR.

Kwame Poku’s signing by Queens Park Rangers last summer was viewed as a coup because to the huge level of demand in his services, but he has had a hard season.

Injury has plagued the Ghana international’s campaign, limiting him to just 483 minutes of football in 16 Championship outings for the Hoops.

QPR has had a bit of a mixed bag this season, having already topped their previous season’s total of 56 points, but they have failed to mount a sustained play-off challenge.

With only two games remaining in the season, the 24-year-old winger has sent an intriguing message to Hoops fans.

Kwame Poku speaks up to QPR fans.

It has not been the season Poku had anticipated for when he arrived at Loftus Road, but after appearing in QPR’s last eight games, he has had his greatest run in Julien Stephan’s team.

The West London club has dropped from play-off contenders to mid-table mediocrity after failing to win their last four games, but there is still enough to work on for next season.

Poku certainly has his eyes on the future, as evidenced by a meaningful remark he posted on his Instagram story.

He wrote, “Gutted with the way this season has gone onto the next, the work will never stop,” followed by the heart and pray emojis on top of a photo of himself playing in the blue and white hoops.

From his message, it is evident that the former Peterborough United player cares, but what can fans expect from him next season?

How can Poku find his feet on Loftus Road?

When a player has spent so much time on the bench as Poku has this season, the best thing to do is put it behind him and move on.

However, all the Ghanian needs to do is reflect on his time at the Weston Homes Stadium and recall why QPR competed with other clubs to sign him in the first place.

During his past two seasons with the League One club, he scored 24 goals and provided 19 assists in all competitions, making him one of the division’s most reliable threats.

Of course, it’s been difficult to evaluate him in the Championship, but in the third tier, his dribbling and ball-carrying abilities put him apart from practically every other player in his position.

According to Futmob, the 24-year-old was in the top 5% of right-wingers in terms of assists and successful dribbles, and he had an incredible 114 touches in the opposing box.

Before Poku can even consider making an impact in games, he must first impress his management on the training ground and battle Paul Smyth, Stephan’s favorite pick.

While it may seem like a stretch at the moment, the winger could look up to players like Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise, who started in the second division before moving on to play for Europe’s greatest clubs.

Looking ahead, there is cause to be optimistic about the Ghanaian, considering his talent, but next season will be crucial if he is to break into the starting lineup.
