In an attempt to maintain their Premier League title challenge, Arsenal will visit Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon to take on an injured and struggling Manchester United.
Gary Neville is certain that this weekend’s match at Old Trafford will end Arsenal’s hopes of winning the Premier League.
In order to keep up with Manchester City at the top going into the final week of the season, the Gunners must defeat Manchester United on Sunday at 4.30 p.m. Although Mikel Arteta’s team was one point ahead of City going into the penultimate weekend of the season, the reigning champions are ahead because they have a game remaining.
To keep things interesting and give themselves a chance to beat Pepe Guardiola’s team to the championship, Arsenal needs to win their final two games. They begin against an ineffective United team, as Erik ten Hag’s injury-plagued team has only triumphed in two of their previous ten Premier League games.
After being thrashed 4-0 by Crystal Palace on Monday, United is currently in eighth place and is in dire need of points to guarantee themselves a spot in the European football league the following season. Neville is also supporting them to upend the status quo and essentially hand the championship to their adversary City.
Neville declared on The Overlap, “This is the big one.” Arsenal hasn’t done well in this place. I see three things that are particularly noteworthy. To start with, this is huge for Arsenal. Second, United has a decent home record against elite teams. Numerous elite teams have failed to defeat United at home.
Thirdly, Arsenal’s performance at Old Trafford has been appalling. Old Trafford can be a graveyard, but people are almost writing Man United off in this game because they’ve been that awful, which is understandable.
“Look, I’m not sure Arsenal will win, but they should.” Although this game and Old Trafford are insane, Arsenal should win. Usually, in a title race, things don’t go as planned. I’m betting on 2-2; this is just my intuition. Although I just have a feeling, Arsenal ought to win.
In fact, Arsenal has lost their last two visits to Old Trafford; in the rematch from September, they had to win 3-1 thanks to two goals in injury time.
However, they have been playing in the league on the road lately, putting in 27 goals and giving up just three in their last eight games, with City being the only team that has been able to stop them from winning.
Arteta responded, “I don’t think about it; every game has a different context,” when asked about United’s performance. We have to give it our all to earn the right to win the game because we are aware of the difficulty and the history of what we’ve accomplished there.
The importance of Arsenal’s home record against Manchester United was also downplayed by Arteta, who said, “We know what we need to do, but first and foremost we have to perform at a really high level to deserve to win the match.” That is the main focus.
