Football news LIVE: FA Cup fifth round takes centre stage, Howe shares Isak fitness update, Redknapp tears into Man United

talkSPORT has got you covered with all the most recent news as the FA Cup takes centre stage this weekend.

As a result of the elimination of Liverpool and Arsenal, as well as the recovery of Manchester City, there is a significant possibility that all of the remaining teams will be able to take home some trophies.

When Aston Villa takes on Cardiff City this evening, they will be looking to advance to the quarterfinals of the competition.

In addition, Manchester United, Newcastle United, Bournemouth, and Nottingham Forest will all be competing over the course of the weekend in an effort to move closer to Wembley Stadium.

“They’re a garbage.”

Manchester United has had a terrible Premier League season, and they are fortunate that the three teams that are currently in the relegation zone have had a worse season. If they had not been so fortunate, their position in the top flight would have been in serious jeopardy.

The limitations of Ruben Amorim’s team have been consistently brought to light, and it is arguable that the team’s performance has deteriorated since he took over.

Harry Redknapp, who formerly served as the manager of Tottenham and QPR, was not shy about his assessment of the Red Devils when he appeared on talkSPORT Breakfast this morning.

“I wouldn’t say they’re indifferent; I’d just say they’re crap at the moment,” he said referring to the situation.

I am unable to comprehend how terrible they are. I am fond of the manager. My impression of him is that he is a good person; however, he has a lot of work to do in that position. It is going to take a very, very, very protracted amount of time to turn that around.

The other night, I watched them, and for some reason, they are so impoverished.

Taking into consideration the great teams that Manchester United fielded under the direction of Fergie, how many members of this team would have even come close to being a part of their squad?

There is a possibility that Bruno Fernandes was selected for the team; what about the other players? Not even a prayer?

“It’s a big job on his hands and I hope they give him time to try to turn it around.”

A vague

Eddie Howe, the manager of Newcastle United, has provided an update on Alexander Isak’s health in advance of the Toon’s match against Brighton & Hove Albion in the FA Cup.

My point is that it would be an overstatement to refer to it as an update because it is so ambiguous, but that is exactly what Howe likes to do in his press conferences.

Isak did not participate in the match against Liverpool at Anfield, which took place in the middle of the week. However, he travelled with the team and watched from the sidelines as Callum Wilson went on to make his first start in the Premier League of the season.

It is reported that the Swede is suffering from a minor injury to his groin, and because the final of the Carabao Cup is approaching, the Magpies are not taking any chances.

This indicates that he might play on Sunday, but it’s also possible that he won’t.

During the press conference that took place before the game, Howe made the following statement: “I haven’t seen him since the game, we don’t think it is a long-term problem, but there was no risk taken on Wednesday and there can’t be at this stage of the season.”

“We will see how he is today and have a discussion with him, if he is fit, he will play.”

Each and every presser, presser, presser

Now that we have that out of the way, it is the weekend of the FA Cup, and tonight, Aston Villa will play Cardiff City.

As a result of the elimination of Arsenal and Liverpool from the competition, as well as the fact that Manchester City is still a team that can be defeated, there is a lot of room for all of the remaining teams to compete.

Over the course of this weekend, talkSPORT will be present at all of the action, with a large number of live games.
