Mark Goldbridge’s interpretation of Patrick Dorgu’s red card for Manchester United in their match against Ipswich was met with opposition from the fans.
After an embarrassing mix-up with Andre Onana, the left-back, who had been acquired from Lecce in January for a fee of twenty-five million pounds, endured a night that will not be forgotten at Old Trafford and inadvertently gave the away team an early lead.
With a moment of miscommunication, Jaden Philogene was able to sneak in and open the scoring. However, United was able to turn the tide of the match in their favour by scoring an own goal in the first half, which was scored by Sam Morsy after Matthijs de Ligt had successfully scored.
On the other hand, just as it appeared that Dorgu’s blushes had been spared, the Dane made a wild and dangerous lunge on Omari Hutchinson.
In the aftermath of a lengthy video assistant referee (VAR) check, during which the referee analysed the challenge on a monitor, Dorgu was given his marching orders, and United conceded shortly thereafter when Philogene scored his second goal.
It was stated by Goldbridge, a United supporter and content creator, that Dorgu was “so unlucky” and that he had made a “genuine attempt to get the ball” on X.
In addition, he stated that it was “nasty” but “not malicious,” despite the fact that followers on social media were not in agreement with him.
There was a response from a fan who said, “You prat, he almost broke his leg in half.” The tackle is absolutely shocking.
An additional person remarked, “Dude, he might have broken his leg.” That was a just reward.”
“Oh, ffs, come on,” howled a third person. My entire day is a red, and I am a huge supporter of Manchester United.
One more person made the following observation: “You are way overprotecting him for this and the first Ipswich goal!”
Oh, give over, that’s a disgraceful challenge, said the fifth and final user who vented their frustration.
Goldbridge criticises the United star Goldbridge, who was conducting a routine watchalong on the United Stand YouTube channel, had earlier lauded Dorgu for offering a “fantastic” response to his initial error. Goldbridge’s criticism was directed at Dorgu.
On the other hand, he did not hold back when it came to Onana, the custodian, regardless of the fact that he was lenient with the 20-year-old.
The Cameroonian did not do himself any favours by allowing either of the goals to be scored against him. The second goal was a cross from the right side of the pitch that found its way into the box and somehow managed to squeeze past him.
In response to the second goal, Goldbridge posted the following message on his Facebook page: “Onana needs to go…..not following the flight of the ball on a cross like that is criminal.”
Immediately following the restart, Harry Maguire scored a header for United, which allowed them to regain the lead. This allowed United to regain the lead.
