Coventry City have finally completed their first signing ahead of potential Premier League competition.

Coventry City F.C. is leading the race to sign Carl Rushworth on a permanent basis following an impressive loan spell under Frank Lampard.

The goalkeeper played a major role in Coventry’s promotion-winning campaign and is now keen to stay at the club, despite interest from Newcastle United F.C. Any transaction would have to be confirmed with parent club Brighton & Hove Albion F.C.

Lampard is thought to have had a significant impact on Rushworth’s development, with the player eager to continue working with him. The 23-year-old’s reputation has grown substantially, with international recognition.

Rushworth also made history this season by breaking the club record for continuous minutes without conceding, beating Horace Pearson’s mark established in 1934.

With Newcastle United F.C. trying to reconfigure its goalkeeping options, Coventry are hoping to sign Rushworth early as part of an ambitious summer after returning to the Premier League.
