Marcus Rashford recently achieved a milestone for Manchester United, and in response, Bruno Fernandes sent him a message.
United defeated Newcastle 3-2 on Wednesday night at Old Trafford. With the victory, United maintained their chances of making it to Europe through their Premier League standings heading into the season’s last match.
United’s goals from Rasmus Hojlund, Amad Diallo, and Kobbie Mainoo gave Erik ten Hag’s team the victory. On the last day of the season, United, which is currently in eighth place in the Premier League standings, will be hoping that both Newcastle and Chelsea can lose.
For Rashford as well, the victory over Newcastle marked a significant milestone. Since making his debut in February 2016, Rashford has worn a United shirt 400 times, including during this game.
Following the match, Rashford shared a message on social media to commemorate reaching the landmark.
“To say that I have played 400 games for United is a unique feeling. Over 370,000 people have liked Rashford’s Instagram post, which he wrote, “Thank you.”
In response, Fernandes left Rashford a four-word note in the comments. At the time of writing, the United captain’s post, “400 more to come,” had received more than 9,000 likes.
In addition, Hojlund commented on Rashford’s post. The United forward wrote: “Happy birthday, Rashy.
In recent months, Rashford has been associated with a departure from United as Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos Group get ready for the summer transfer window. Despite only scoring eight goals this season, Rashford’s long-term future at Old Trafford may still be in question, according to Fernandes’ remark.
The final Premier League match of the season between United and Brighton is scheduled for this Sunday. The Reds must win in order to have a chance to qualify for Europe through their league standing.
The only way United could get into the Europa League if they placed seventh or eighth is if they defeat Manchester City in the FA Cup final. Should City prevail in the championship game, United would have to place seventh in order to earn a spot in the Europa Conference League for the upcoming campaign.
