This summer, Mason Greenwood is anticipated to depart Manchester United permanently.
According to reports, Mason Greenwood’s plans to stay in Spain for the upcoming season have been “left in tatters.” The forward is now predicted to permanently depart Manchester United this summer, with Juventus reportedly leading the chase to sign him.
Last season, Greenwood had a great loan stint at Getafe, making 36 appearances, scoring 10 goals, and dishing out six assists, which attracted interest from elite clubs across Europe.
In the upcoming months, Greenwood is anticipated to permanently distance himself from his boyhood side, as he has just one year remaining on his contract at Old Trafford and concerns have been expressed about how he would be regarded upon his return to England.
Getafe has made it clear that they want to keep the adaptable forward on staff, and Atletico Madrid is reportedly keeping an eye on the Englishman’s circumstances as well.
Although Greenwood has been linked to Barcelona for some time and is thought to be the player’s top choice, Sun Sport claims that it is unlikely that the forward will join Camp Nou for the 2024–2025 season.
His hopes of joining the Catalan giants are allegedly “in tatters” after manager Xavi left, and a move to Italy is now very much on the cards.
At this point, Juventus is seen as the “likely move.” The Serie A team expressed interest in signing Greenwood late last year after sending scouts to watch him play for Getafe multiple times.
Juventus is confident that the forward can lead them back to domestic glory and that he will adjust to life in the Italian top division with ease.
If Greenwood is allowed to join Juventus, he will want to establish his value under Thiago Motta’s leadership and make the case for himself to be added back into Gareth Southgate’s plans for England.
The Three Lions manager has expressed that he has “no plans” to bring the forward back into the team. Greenwood has previously refrained from addressing rumors regarding his future with the national team, but he is still optimistic that he will play for his country again on the biggest platforms.
