Erik ten Hag gets admitted to the Europa League after Manchester United loses ground once more.
According to Erik ten Hag, Manchester United’s only chance of making it into the Champions League at the end of the season was if they defeated Burnley yesterday.
United was held to a 1-1 draw by Burnley on Saturday afternoon, which dropped them to sixth place in the Premier League and 13 points behind Aston Villa in fourth. Last night’s draw between Unai Emery’s team and Chelsea saw them give up a two-goal advantage.
Zeki Amdouni’s penalty kick three minutes from time made United pay for their numerous missed opportunities. Antony appeared to have given Ten Hag’s team a valuable three points when he scored ten minutes from time.
Because of England’s low Uefa coefficient, the best place in the league that United can finish this season is fifth, which is extremely unlikely to translate into Champions League play.
