Average Age of Every Premier League Squad in 2024/25

With multiple players over 30, West Ham United is the oldest team in the league. Fulham and Everton also have players with experience.
They have the sixth-youngest roster following Manchester United’s hectic summer and January transfer windows, which saw both young and old players join their ranks.
Due to their concentration on youth recruitment and the departure of experienced players, Chelsea has the youngest team in the Premier League.
Even though some supporters think that football teams “can’t win anything with kids,” Premier League clubs all over the nation have decided to give it a shot. There are many young players on the move during the January transfer window, and teams are constantly searching for talented individuals who can contribute right away.

So far this season, some young talents have had a big impact on their respective clubs. These include Liam Delap, the star player for Ipswich Town, and Brazilian sensation Savinho, who has emerged as Pep Guardiola’s most recent project, going from an obscure potential to a world-beater. The GIVEMESPORT team decided to rank every Premier League side according to their average age because almost every club in the top flight is bringing in fresh talent.

Even though none of the previously mentioned teams are claiming the top spot here, it’s still astonishing to observe how distinct the league’s youngest team is from the others.

The average age of West Ham United is 28.0.

Graham Potter’s team comes in last on the list and wins the title of largest granddads in the Premier League. Although West Ham United’s team has a wealth of top level experience, players like Aaron Cresswell and Luis Fabianski, who are 35 and 39 years old, respectively, considerably increase the team’s average age.

The average age of the team is slightly raised by the fact that seven additional players, including recent addition Niclas Fullkrug, are 30 years of age or older. Although they do have some youthful players in their ranks, only seven of them are 25 years of age or younger, which gives the ageing legs listed above additional energy.

The average age of Everton is 27.9.

In theory, David Moyes’s Everton team ought to be playing at their best. The Toffees team’s finest players are in their 20s, while there are a few older players on the list, like Ashley Young (39), Seamus Coleman (35), and others.

Last season, players like Nathan Patterson, James Garner, and Jarrad Branthwaite—all of whom are 22 years of age or younger—were crucial. Despite staying for this season at least, Branthwaite, who is admired by many elite clubs, may be leaving Goodison Park in the years to come, which might lead to an increase in Everton’s average age.

The average age of Fulham is 27.6

Raul Jimenez, who joined Fulham in the summer of 2023, Bernd Leno, and Tom Cairney are among the players that are over 30 years old at the club. Only a few kids make up for that experience. Rodrigo Muniz, the youngest player for the Cottagers, is still 23 years old, while seven other players are 25 years of age or younger.

In the event that the Cottagers experience difficulties, the expertise of the more seasoned professionals may prove beneficial. However, the Cottagers are moving up the ladder after making wise recruits like Emile Smith Rowe and Joachim Andersen, and their fears of relegation are fading with each passing game week.

Average age in Manchester City: 27.0

Guardiola has put together a truly amazing team, which includes a number of young, talented players. The three most intriguing among them are Josko Gvardiol, Phil Foden, and Erling Haaland; they are all under 24 and essential components of the Spanish tactician’s well-oiled machine.

Only five of the 29 players, including Kevin De Bruyne, the midfield wizard, are older than thirty. The average age is raised by Ederson (31), returning superstar Ilkay Gundogan (34), and adolescent Rico Lewis, as well as celebrities like Oscar Bobb and Jeremy Doku, who are all under 21. As evidenced by City’s recent triple success, Guardiola’s ideal blend of youth and experience has paid handsomely. However, the Sky Blues have had a very bad season; after 24 games, they are currently in fifth place.

The average age of Newcastle United is 26.7.

With eleven players who are 30 years of age or older, Eddie Howe’s team is bursting with much-needed experience. Although players like Lewis Miley and Lewis Hall are there to keep their average age lower than it would be, Fabian Schar and Kieran Trippier are veteran, level-headed backs who can help younger players through challenging moments in games.

In addition to the previously listed youths, Newcastle United also boasts two other promising young players: Tino Livramento and William Osula, both of whom are 21 years old. With 20 years separating the oldest and youngest members, their 27-star roster is undoubtedly a tale of two extremes.

The average age in Liverpool is 26.6.

Their average age hasn’t decreased significantly compared to the rest of the league despite Jurgen Klopp’s efforts to revitalise his team. Most notably, James Milner and Jordan Henderson are no longer on the team. While there are undoubtedly some gifted players under 25 in their ranks, such as Dominic Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister, Arne Slot’s rule still includes a large number of seasoned, smart veterans.

This includes players like Mohamed Salah (32) and Virgil van Dijk (33), as well as Alisson (32). However, with Harvey Elliott (21) among those waiting in the wings, it is unclear how long each of the three top players can continue to play at the highest level for the Reds.

The average age of Wolverhampton Wanderers is 26.4.

Youth and experience are dispersed over the pitch by Vitor Pereira’s team. Craig Dawson, who is only 34 years old, is the most seasoned member of the squad and has long been perceived by many fans as a veteran of at least 30. Everyone in the Wolverhampton Wanderers lineup is 30 years of age or younger, with the exception of six people.

In an effort to remain afloat and avoid a relegation struggle, their combination of youthful, energetic players and level-headed, experienced leaders has proven formidable. Pedro Lima, a summer acquisition, is the team’s youngest player at eighteen, while others like Tommy Doyle and Rodrigo Gomes are twenty-two and twenty-one, respectively.

Average age at Aston Villa: 26.4

How well Unai Emery has performed since joining Villa Park. In his first season, the team qualified for the Europa Conference League, and in 2024–2025, they qualified for the Champions League, giving the club its first taste of the continent’s top competition since the mid-1980s.

The fact that he has a seasoned 24-man squad on his books has been helpful to him. Emiliano Martinez (32) and a few more players are over 30, but yes, seven members of the Aston Villa team are 25 years of age or younger, including summer additions Ian Maatsen and Amadou Onana. Additionally, they don’t have a single old-timer. Robin Olsen is the squad’s oldest member, at 35, but overall, that isn’t that old.

The average age in Leicester City is 26.3.
