Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s Latest Cost-Cutting Measures Announced at Man United

According to the Daily Mail, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS are considering laying off more than 100 Manchester United employees as part of their divisive cost-cutting initiatives.

In order to provide manager Ruben Amorim the money he needs to strengthen the first team, the club’s top executives are keen to limit losses. However, the news has infuriated Manchester United fans, who have blasted Ratcliffe and his group.

Additionally, this is not the first time that a decision of this kind has been made. In what David Ornstein called a “brutal” move, over 25% of the workforce was laid off during the summer of last year.

United supporters are incensed at the club’s decision to fire employees, saying that “more suffering is on the way” for the Red Devils’ staff.

The Daily Mail story claims that Manchester United will be firing a significant portion of its workforce once more. Although a precise figure has not been provided, insiders speculate that it may range from 100 to 200.

In 2024, Manchester United laid off up to 250 workers, and many more had their Christmas bonuses cut at the start of the year. According to a former club steward, bonuses for those in his position were also eliminated as part of “petty” efforts that finally resulted in “pinching off people at the bottom of the ladder.”

Fans have taken to X (previously Twitter) to show their disdain after it was just revealed that more positions would be eliminated. According to one of these supporters, INEOS was just like the other co-owners: “They’re basically Glazers 2.0.”

Another supporter bemoaned the club’s callousness, saying: “How are you so at ease making hundreds of people unemployed? “INEOS, this isn’t the way to go.”

One person wrote: “We need INEOS out” because they thought they had completely lost faith in Ratcliffe and INEOS. “Embarrassing. #RatcliffeOut” was the sentiment expressed by another admirer.
