Rob Edwards acknowledged that his “phone has been going” about clubs approaching him about managerial openings, but he also acknowledged that his next position must be the ideal one.
The 43-year-old has been unemployed since Wolves unexpectedly fired him in the summer.
Given that they had begun the season with two points from their first 11 games, the Old Gold’s acquisition of the Telford-born former Wolves player halfway through their terrible Premier League campaign last season was nearly the first indication that they were getting ready for life back in the Championship.
Although Edwards was unable to keep Wolves from relegation, he was determined to help them return to the top division as soon as possible. In fact, he had a significant role in the club’s early summer window acquisition of Raul Jimenez and Kieran Trippier.
Rob Edwards acknowledges that he has been approached to return to management.
However, Edwards was fired while on vacation after working to get Jimenez back to Molineux. The head coach first learned that Edwards would be leaving the team on social media.
With the exception of the start of the 2024–2025 season at Luton Town, Edwards’ relative success at the Championship level has caused many EFL clubs to consider him.
According to reports that have since been refuted, West Ham United reportedly sent out “feelers” for the 43-year-old as pressure mounted on Nuno Espírito Santo. Burnley also reportedly approached him to take Nicky Hayen’s place, and Leicester City, a League One team, was reportedly interested earlier this month as Russell Martin’s position became more viable.
Since then, Edwards has made an appearance on Mick McCarthy and Tony Pulis’ podcast, “The Managers,” where he said that there have been some offers and that his phone has been ringing as “sacking season,” as Pulis put it, approaches.
One or two things have happened, and it’s good that the phone is working. “Well, we’ll see,” Edwards said. “It’s hard to talk about that side, because you’re relying on someone else’s misfortune.”
Rob Edwards hopes to return to managing in the near future.

Although nothing has resulted from these connections, Edwards stated that he hopes to return to the dugout soon because leaving Wolves didn’t exactly make him want to take a break.
The 43-year-old had just returned from a brief career hiatus the previous year after being fired from Luton. He had been in management for nearly four years in a row, give or take a few days between positions, prior to that.He said, “I wasn’t looking to come out.” “I wanted a vacation since Luton was different. I wasn’t feeling well, and that drains you a lot.”However, I was prepared to work on vacation this time. I feel good and prepared as a result.
However, Edwards relied heavily on clichés and didn’t reveal anything about where he intended to go next. “The next role must be the right one for me,” he said. The idea that the following one must be correct is just overused.
In order for Rob Edwards to regain his reputation as a quality EFL manager and possibly make a comeback to the Premier League, his next position will be crucial.

In the end, Edwards may come out as evasive, but as he stated, he is not in the business of discussing other occupations or “relying on someone’s misfortune.” He makes a valid point when he says that the next position must be ideal for him.
For the 43-year-old, the last few seasons have been quite the roller coaster. His dismal start in the Championship with Luton caused them to drop to League One, and after he appeared to recover at Middlesbrough, he left for Wolves.
With the exception of a few fantastic months at the Riverside at the beginning of the previous season, he now has two Premier League relegations on his resume and has been connected to teams that have recently been demoted.
There’s no denying Edwards’ ability to be a successful Premier League manager, but you get the impression that his next move will help him regain his reputation.
It could not be long until we see Edwards back in the dugout, most likely in the EFL, though, since the phone is ringing and he wants to go back there soon.
